How about “if you don’t think cows should be killed, don’t eat steak”? Better.
“If you don’t like factories, don’t buy their products.”
As for the Constitution, I consider it a huge guide telling the GOVERNMENT what it can and cannot do.
BIG difference.

Gillette said that if HE wasn't ready to kill bessie, then he shouldn't eat steak. That statement has no logic. He didn't say if some person isn't willing to kill the cow, he shouldn't eat steak. And speaking of the constitution, while it tells us what the government cannot do, it also enunciates what it can do. We are a nation of laws, most of which are due to the consent of the governed.

What I agree with you and Gillette is with the overstepping of the federal government into areas it has no province. That does not preclude state governments from enacting laws affecting us. Gillette makes it sound like all laws that tell people what they can and cannot do are wrong. That is muddled thinking. He probably doesn't believe all of what he says, but he doesn't explain himself very well. Like many libertarians, he believes morality has no role in governmental decisions concerning human behavior. I beg to differ.
