Gillette said that if HE wasn't ready to kill bessie, then he shouldn't eat steak. That statement has no logic. He didn't say if some person isn't willing to kill the cow, he shouldn't eat steak. And speaking of the constitution, while it tells us what the government cannot do, it also enunciates what it can do. We are a nation of laws, most of which are due to the consent of the governed.

What I agree with you and Gillette is with the overstepping of the federal government into areas it has no province. That does not preclude state governments from enacting laws affecting us. Gillette makes it sound like all laws that tell people what they can and cannot do are wrong. That is muddled thinking. He probably doesn't believe all of what he says, but he doesn't explain himself very well. Like many libertarians, he believes morality has no role in governmental decisions concerning human behavior. I beg to differ.

You're right. I assume he's a vegan?
However, I do get the impression that he is all for morality.
"Voting for our government to use guns to give money to help poor and suffering people is immoral self-righteous bullying laziness. People need to be fed, medicated, educated, clothed, and sheltered. If we’re compassionate, we’ll help them, but you get no moral credit for forcing other people to do what you think is right. There is great joy in helping people, but no joy in doing it at gunpoint."
And the fact that he's opposed to people using "democracy" to shove their beliefs down the throats of others.
Based on what he's said, I would consider him "one of us"...
