Palin's Popularity in GOP Soars After Quitting
Cleveland Leader ^ | Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Posted on 07/08/2009 8:13:03 AM PDT by kristinn

Apparently Sarah Palin's decision to quit her post as Governor of Alaska wasn't as misguided as it sounded at first, because it has certainly already begun to work it's magic on winning over the Republican party. According to a new USA Today/Gallup Poll, her popularity has surged amongst Republicans since she made the announcement.

71 percent of Republicans said they would vote for Palin if she ran for president in 2012, and three-fourths believe that Palin has been treated unfairly by the media.

Two-thirds of Republicans want Palin to be "a major national political figure" in the future, while three-fourths of Democrats are hoping that she won't be. Independents by 55%-34% would prefer she leave the national stage.

“While Sarah is of good thought has ideas worth hanging onto”

Are you just stumbling over words because you can’t wait to criticize Palin or is your first language Urdu?

“she’ll have to do to the GOP what Jesus did to the money changers.”

She did it twice in Alaska. Those were her training missions. Now is for keeps!

Ah, editor-surveyor, we may not see completely eye to eye on whether an independent political movement is necessary or can succeed, or indeed what the ‘92 Perot movement was all about.
But we agree completely on your post cited above. Very well stated. I suspect some other kindred souls agree also (beyond those that I’m pinging here).

He is still worth listening to because he is honest about it and if he is on a religious persons show he will restrain himself, but he is blunt about how he will treat a Christian who visits his home.

“There will NEVER be a strong third party.”

Apologize for coming in late, but NEVER is too strongly stated. It’s not impossible, but very difficult. The two existing mainstream parties weren’t around at the founding of the republic; they replaced other parties during periods of great change. And we may be on the verge of another great upheaval and reordering of the political landscape.

I HOPE that Sarah can lead a rebirth of the Republican party. But it’s not a given. The globalist elites have their hooks in deep. The party may have to implode and be replaced by a constitutional, conservative, traditional values party that puts the US economy and the interests of American workers above the mythical “global economy” and “free trade.” Unless and until the GOP returns to its prevailing economic principles from Lincoln until WWII, millions of otherwise conservative, patriotic Americans will not support the party. $Trillions of accumulated trade deficits and national debt are killing us, and most Americans realize that.

Here’s one of Sarah Palin’s key beliefs, which she expressed at every rally during the campaign, and one that can bring millions of independents and Reagan Democrats to support her:

“AMERICAN energy resources, brought to you with AMERICAN ingenuity, and produced by AMERICAN workers!”

I’m willing to bet that she understands that the same logic applies to many industries besides energy.

Every time I see an interview with her I find myself cringing in the corner, fearful of what mis-word or phrase she will trip over next.

I'm not all ra ra Palin (although I like her so far), but I can't resist. You mean like we all hid our faces and cringed when George Bush spoke, especially in the beginning of his campaigning? And he was elected President. hmmmmmmm. Interesting.

It's so weird how being a governor is seen as sufficient experience to run for president, except in the case of Palin. And, she had a nice long resume that many politicians would envy even before she was elected Governor of Alaska. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't think her background would be an issue, if not for the gender issue.

Quit. Resigned. Same thing. We made fun of Clinton for parsing words like this. Palin couldn’t even finish one term as Governor of Alaska. The libs will hammer her on that if she runs for President. She couldn’t handle 4 years in Alaska; how will she handle for years in the White House?

Stop, Go Away, you probably didn't read the whole statement and didn't digest the gist of it.

Correct. Unless you are Ross Perot and have a billion dollars to blow on getting 19% of the vote, faggedabouddit. We have a two party system, and that's it. Like it or lump it.

That is the correct comparison with Reagan. Many don't remember (or never knew) that Ronald Reagan was a widely heard radio commentator prior to his political rise. This direct access to the public accounted for more of his popularity than his movies. And it had nothing to do with the "party professionals" in Warshington.

Those who dismiss Palin as a harmless future "talk show host" are whistling past the graveyard.

You obviously are not old enough to remember Jimmuh Carter--"Ah'll nevah lah to yew." Sounding "presidential" is in the ear of the listener.

Maybe when you grow up you won't be so threatened by a strong beautiful woman who already has a man.

Well, this is very encouraging news.

And I'm glad Sarah is getting the recognition she deserves. She is an intelligent, strong conservative woman. Her moral values are sound and her fiscal conservatism is rooted in oldschool Reagan pragmatism.

If Palin can clean house and revitalize the morbidly sclerotic GOP, I would be excited. She doesn't have to do it right away, just work towards throwing the bums out, and starving the blue-blood Rockefeller Republicans' coffers until that God-forsaken political branch withers and dies a well deserved death.

[[You obviously are not old enough to remember Jimmuh Carter—”Ah’ll nevah lah to yew.” Sounding “presidential” is in the ear of the listener.]]

I am old enough, and old enough to realize it was the same situation back then- people ‘wanted change’- Jimmah tickled their ears with presidnential sounding rhettoric (which of course was a lie- but again, the people didn’t care back then just as they don’t today thinking ‘Well- they’ll have to raise taxes but perhaps it won’t affect me’ lol)

[[Maybe when you grow up you won’t be so threatened by a strong beautiful woman who already has a man.]]

lol- what a dope- I aint ‘threatened’ by her one bit- I HOPE she can win- I just have my fear that she won’t for the reasons mentioned- it has nothign to do with my ‘fearing her’- and perhaps when you grow up and learn to read- you’ll be able to discern that next time? Wanna continue htrowing out childish insults? I can play that game too

[[But, wouldn’t you have considered that whining, since that’s what you’re saying Sarah was doing?]]

No- because it would have been seen as ‘defending’ when done by someone close to her- it’s qa wierd situation- but it’s true- when done by the oen being attacked, it’s seen as ‘whining’ (and note here I am NOT saying myself that she was ‘whining’ I’m sayign first, that she indeed DID have the right to defend herself, but perhaps should have handled it differently, and secondly, that people perceive the attacked one’s defendign htemselves as whining- Just as they are now perceiving Obama because he keeps whining about how he was ‘handed a bad economy’- people get fed up with rhettoric like that and simply perceive it as whining (in Obama’s case though it is true whining)
