The dire situation can have a positive outcome. More and more folks are seeing the disconnect between the reported news (rosy) and the economic and geopolitical reality (gloomy).
It is a reverse of the effect under Bush: MSM reported things as being gloomy, but people were themselves doing pretty well.
The silver lining is the credibility of the MSM continues to erode.
