Why the left fear Palin. "First Post Modern Politician."
Huffington Post | July 5t 2009 | RJ Eskow

Posted on 07/08/2009 1:33:51 AM PDT by militanttoby

Let's start with a multiple-choice question: Which answer is correct?

Sarah Palin's resignation less than two/thirds of the way through her term as governor is a violation of her compact with the voters, a flaky act that destroys her credibility as a serious politician. Her resignation was a brilliant tactical move that makes her the de facto frontrunner for the GOP nomination. Who gives a @#%$ @#$ about your traditional political conventions? If you answered #1 or #2 you missed the point.

.... etc .... etc

Odds are she'll fade away the way most pundits are predicting. But there's a chance - call it one in five - that she could seize the moment. She seems ridiculous to most Washington insiders right now, but truly transformative figures often seem ridiculous ... until they change the world. Democrats who dismiss Palin do so at their own peril, particularly considering the risks involved.

It probably won't work - but it could. Think about it: She'd be the most revolutionary force to hit her profession since Huey Long. Or Johnny Rotten. And the country would never, ever be the same.

Interesting, some insight in an abstract way. This guy may heve visited FR, it seems like he's writing about a grassroots rebellion.

Couldn't link article in header so here it is ... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rj-eskow/is-sarah-palin-the-first_b_225890.html

A bit iffy posting something from HuffPo, apologies in advance if this offends anyone. But its an interesting article, and a well read one at HuffPo. Obviously some shots at Palin, but clearly shows how left understand Palin is a force to be reckoned with, a real threat, and I haven’t seen it expressed this way exactly before. Don’t completely agree, but fundamentally yes, Palin is a different type of politician, and she can have a huge impact and cause significant change.

Palin is a lighted match in a parched field of dry grass. The great conservative majority is that field—and they are the reason she may become a transformative figure.

"Odds are she'll fade away the way most pundits are predicting.."

"It probably won't work...

(This refers to her stepping down as Governor)

Even in this article the fear is obvious. The author feels obligated to reassure the left wing haters that there surely is nothing to worry about, after all the "experts" have so decreed Palin is finished.

Yes! Sarah Palin is as unique for conservatives as Obama is for the far left and I am excited that she will be taking a “front and center” role. She understands that this nation will go down under communistic rule which is where we are headed. I often wonder what our representatives in Washington are smoking!

Unfortunately for the left, the odds of Sarah just fading away are next to zero.

Uhm no... not at least because the angst-driven left itself is obsessed with her. They have to 24/7 report that she is irrelevant.

An interesting article? I don’t think it’s an interesting article. It’s another in an infinite series of hit-pieces.

Obama is the superego, Sarah is the id.

Obama is enlightment. Sarah is the darkness.

That’s interesting?

What do you find interesting about it?

Please tell me. I’d really like to know.

I did point out there were shots at Palin. Its HuffPo.

Palin is unique, talented and very appealing (he says that, and we know that). He calls her a Post Modern Politician in the usual liberal pseudo intellectual style. I say, more plainly, she connects, will probably lead a grassroots campaign, and with that could be very successful and, as Palin herself says, “change the politics as usual”.

Interesting because its clear here thats what liberals/democrats see and fear. If you read the comments(and I wouldn’t recommend it), the posters don’t like the article. These HuffPo’ers have probably seen Palin’s approval ratings with conservatives from the latest Pew Poll. They are worried.

Actually, what you write makes me want to read the comments. I’m going there now.

My objection to the piece is that the writer is trying to pretend to be objective when in actuality he hates Palin as much as any leftist hates Palin.

He goes through all kinds of contortions to disguise his hatred but the fact is all such hatred comes down to this:

She didn’t go to Harvard, Princeton or any of the other proper universities and is thus uppity. Just has the liberals hate uppity negroes (those who stray from the Liberal Plantation, like Clarence Thomas), so they hate uppity females. And Palin is the uppitiest of them all.

Here's from one of the comments:

Of course, no one in her entourage, or Sarah herself have ever read Lyotard, Foucault, Baudrillard or even Walter Ong. The notion that she is the embodiment of the post-modern politician is, of course ironic.

And it goes to directly what I'm saying. How can Palin dare step forward to speak for the American people when "no one in her entourage, or Sarah herself have ever read Lyotard, Foucault, Baudrillard or even Walter Ong".

The nerve of her!

There's nothing more smug than a smug, self-satisfied leftist.

Read the other thread about "the country is becoming more conservative" rapidly and in a big way in just the last few months. Guns, economy, abortion, you name it. Sarah is the only politician who is "prepositioned" on all of these issues before that move. One might almost say that she is the one folks are moving to. This is probably polling with the libtards hence their venom. The libtard's flying monkeys, the MidStream Media, are doing everything they can to vilify her but their hold on America's conciousness has slipped considerably after foisting Zero on us. Hence their full panic.

A Palin White House appointing an Ann Coulter to SCOTUS seems more likely to happen in our future by the hour. Please, God, let it be so!

Pardon me for being picky, but "post modern" means something specific and Sarah Palin is popular among conservatives because she is NOT post modern. To be pro-Sarah is to be anti-Postmodernism.

Post-modernism is the philosophy of the modern leftists, the ones ruining our country and turning the world of law and logic on its head.

Just sayin', so people don't start calling her this. "Post" something - post corruption, maybe - but not "post modern."

Jefferson would have certainly seemed "ridiculous to most Washington insiders" today, as Reagan assuredly did.
I'd say Sarah Palin is in pretty good company.

Of course they’re scared. She’s apple pie America, and symbolizes all the values that made the US of A. Hard work, honesty, optimism, straight-talking, thrift... and their man is a Luo Kenyan, Muslim, grievance-organizer who doesn’t even have the honesty to show his birth certificate or his school records. Sarah is the great outdoors, the frontier, (still a factor in the American Psyche); she’s real tolerance and acceptance (keeping Trig). She’s tough and straight: busting the corrupt in her own party. Meaning she has IDEALS. She comes from a land in which people care about each other - simply because they have to. Her populist appeal is HUGE.

IMHO she did well to remove herself to PROVE herself. To hell with the Romneys and McCains and the Steeles. Sarah for 2012... Sarah helping conservatives get elected in 2010. Sarah drawing big crowds! Sarah scaring the hell out of these new Democrats who lack all sense and honor.

Actually, she is the first post-post-modernist political figure. Unlike Obama, she has values and convictions.
