I heard Mark Belling read excerpts of it on Rush today. I heard enough. It did indeed call for central secular authority over the world’s economic resources. Mark also pointed out a number of contradictions in the encyclical that many of us would notice instantly, such as a call for all western workers to unionize and a call to stop outsourcing jobs to “lowest bidder” third world countries, while also calling for new jobs in the third world. The unionization thing was to assure a high standard of living for western workers, while also calling for reducing energy consumption. Only if Pope Benedict can reproduce the miracle of fishes and loaves is this gonna happen.
I have not read it. So are you saying the media spun this to make the Pope look bad?
