OBAMA ON RUSSIA, ECONOMY, PALIN
firstread.msnbc.msn.com ^ | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 11:10 AM | NBC'S CHUCK TODD:/Domenico Montanaro

TODD: I want to move to economy, it's going to come up at the G-8 a little bit. I want to read some various phrases that you've used in your administration. Early on, when you took office, you said the economy was going to get worse before it gets better. Then Larry Summers said we hit bottom to a point. Then we started hearing the phrase green chutes. You predicted, though, higher unemployment. Vice President Biden over the weekend said the team misread the economy. And then yesterday, Prime Minister Brown was saying that the recession might get worse. So let's erase those words. What's the state of the economy? Is it getting better? Is it getting worse? Are there green chutes?

OBAMA: Here is my assessment and I think this assessment has been fairly consistent. We haven't always gotten the numbers right but I think the general overview is right. We went through an economic tsunami that was far worse than anything we've gone through since the Great Depression. And even early on I think we did not see the full magnitude of what was going to happen.

TODD: By the way, are you concerned you're not getting good data from your team or is this just a misread?

OBAMA: No, no, no, well I would actually rather than say misread we had incomplete information. We came in January 20th. It was only after the first quarter numbers came in if you recall that suddenly everybody looked and said the economy shrank six percent. So it was happening much more rapidly at an accelerated pace than the projections out there at the time. But just to focus on what has happened.

An economic tsunami hit.

I heard on the news this morning that 0bama took back atleast two of the things VP Biden has spoken publically about since Obama has been overseas.

The Biden statement of, "we MISREAD the economy" was one of them and the only report I can find on this is in a potpourri interview Chuck Todd did with Obama.

I heard this morning that 0bama basically took back what Biden said and blamed Bush.

"""I heard this morning that 0bama basically took back what Biden said and blamed Bush."""

Didn't you know, Obama has had the FBI looking into the possibility that the Bush family was responsible for the Lindbergh kidnapping.

TODD: So I'm getting the, I better start moving along. I've got a whole round of quickies. You're a political junkie. Just give me your reaction to this Sarah Palin stuff.

OBAMA: Well I think a lot of people were surprised obviously she has generated a lot of attention. She has a fiercely loyal constituency within the Republican Party and in the conservative movement but she says that this is something that is best for her family and I respect that because--

TODD: She compares her leaving office to your leaving office early. Fair or unfair?

OBAMA: I'm sorry, I don't-

TODD: She compares the idea that she's leaving early as no different than your leaving your Senate seat early.

OBAMA: Well, you know, I think this is a decision she made and I respect her decision.

TODD: Al Sharpton has said Michael Jackson's imprint, sort of being able to crossover from a black audience to a white audience, helped pave the way for Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods, and you. Do you buy that argument?

OBAMA: You know, what I do believe is that black sports figures and black entertainers helped to create a comfort level with African Americans that had an impact historically dating back to people like Sidney Poitier or Louie Armstrong, up through Michael Jackson. So I would say that he's part of a long line of black entertainers that had an impact on the culture

TODD: I saw Gibbs give me this. We'll just do one last, you mentioned Ovechkin in there, our friend in Washington. Do you think should you have been transparent and said you've never been to a hockey game. Are you going to fix this?

OBAMA: Well, you know, the truth of the matter is that I have watched this guy play and he's outstanding. But you know, Chuck, I grew up in Hawaii, man.

"Are there green chutes?"

Have they no editors at MSNBC? I think they meant "shoots" (as in plants) not "chutes" as in parachutes. But maybe I'm wrong: Maybe "green chutes" are what they're handing out at Goldman-Sachs, AIG and the UAW.

I think it just shows Obama’s entire cabinet and policies are failures. His own VP can’t lie and blame Bush on cue, no one seems to pay their taxes and they cover-up and fire good people like Gerald Walpin for doing his job.

I was wondering what that meant as well! Too bad Obama gets soft ball interviews that cover for him; in the very questioning.

Any decent reporter or journalist would have point blank asked why the VP is stating things that are not 0bama’s ideals thoughts or policy? Instead... TODD covered for him in fixing the gaffe ever so carefully like TODD works for 0bama.

He really is slick scum: Palin said her family was behind her resigning to fight the larger fight for freedom against the policies of Obama—not that she was a mother who had to quit to go home to her kids.

We came in January 20th.

CALLING BULL S*** on this one!!! Obama was A SENATOR and the DEMOCRATS WERE RUNNING CONGRESS when the $700 million obamanation was put into law. Also, Obama and his transition team were in full swing LONG before January 20. Oh, and thirdly, that lame excuse of only being around since January 20 didn't work with Bush when he was trying to silence the MIHOP'ers and LIHOP'ers in response to their cries about "HE was in office for 9 months and he didn't destroy these terrorists?"

Also he has less experience than Palin and he dumped on his senate commitment. I also wonder what he would do if the media went after his kids and family like they did Palin’s.

The Obama’s even trumped the Clinton’s in staying at the Ritz Carlton is Russia.

Last month he said HE was creating 130,000 jobs a month. Because the jobs number was better than anticipated, he crowed that things were turning around.

This months numbers are worse than expected, and it’s back to being handed a lousy hand by Bush.

So, he has NOT been ‘fairly consistent’.

When he speaks, he reminds me of some greasy used car salesman. Can this POS ever answer a direct question instead of tap dancing around it? He is revolting and stupid.

They’re also investigating Bush in conjunction with the spread of the Black Death, and sources high up in the administration also want to investigate his complicity in the murder that took place in the Garden of Eden.

Correction: the murder that took place soon after they left the Garden of Eden.

In my words...

I suppose when someone in the media asked Palin about leaving her post as governor early it may have been noted that many have done so... including Obama leaving the senate term for the POTUS.

Obama was told (asked) about this and Obama stated the two cannot be compared.

“Al Sharpton has said Michael Jackson’s imprint, sort of being able to crossover from a black audience to a white audience, helped pave the way for Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods, and you. Do you buy that argument?”

Those who had a MUCH bigger imprint:

1) Jackie Robinson
2) Hattie McDaniel
3) Sidney Poitier
4) Jimi Hendrix
5) MLK
6) Nat King Cole
7) Ernie Davis

These folk literally paved the way for MJ....
