Alaskan Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who will succeed Gov. Sarah Palin after she leaves office this month, called Palin Alaska's greatest gift to the United States on Saturday.
"I was very surprised at first," he said of Palin's decision to resign, which he said she told him Wednesday.
"But then as she began to explain why she was doing it, I began to see it was Sarah Palin, once again, moving to put Alaska's interest first," Parnell told CNN.
Palin, a Republican and John McCain's vice presidential running mate last year, said Friday she will step down as Alaska's chief executive by the end of the month and would not run for a second gubernatorial term in 2010.

Ater the pundits say it all..we the down to earth folks know one thing about our Sarah..she knows how to handle guns, shoot a moose, catch fish, rear kids, love her man, cooks, keep house and works on behalf of her community and country for the overall good!!!!! This is one real American woman...a lovin’dream! You betchya!
She has them all in a frenzy wondering what her next move will be and how it will be perceived.
Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disater and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

This lady is not done, let me tell you. I can sense it. The MSM HATES her and now she won’t be in a vulnerable position while she spends time defending her precious family and reputation. God the ulcers she is going to cause the libs,,,,we owe her so much!
Parnell is a real hero. He came out swinging for her and was extremely articulate.
The ‘greatest gift’ to the U.S., and the world is Jesus Christ and the Salvation he offers to humanity...
Sarah Palin is a great conservative christian, but people IMO should not toy with (Idolizing her)...
I pray for her and her family in what is best for them....

Yes, you can hear Katie Couric's thighs clenching and unclenching like two-inch wire rope, as she restrains herself from quoting the poisonous Alaska bloggers who are having all the phun speculating wildly about Palin's slimy motives for this and that .... Katie soooo wants to quote them and "get it out there"!

May I disagree? The press will try to deepsix her now (wonder why they haven't so far?), IMHO -- sliming her periodically while suppressing her replies on the grounds that "it isn't news, she's said it before, she's out of office". As the public attention attenutates, she'll be more vulnerable to maltreatment, not less -- like walking down a dark alley. So far the public spotlight has afforded her some protection.
Her leaving office will not stop the basic strategy, which is to fatigue her with lawsuits and "citizen complaints". It's the old strategy Communist playwright Lillian Hellmann used on authoress Mary McCarthy (The Group, which was about Hellmann's circle of LUG's at college). When McCarthy had to declare bankruptcy, Hellmann, who was much wealthier, dropped the lawsuit.

Hey Murkowski - how come you're not attacking the slimeballs in the media and Obama administration/DNC who are wasting Alaska's taxpayer dollars defending Palin from these bogus ethics violations? If the moonbats would have left Palin alone, she would have finished her term. Murkowski is just another beltway loser insider now and doesn't give a damn about the people she supposed to represent.
