Obama - “Eh, Who Needs To Follow The Constitution”

With all the wailing about Bush supposedly doing things his own way and not by the rule of law I wonder if those same people will have a problem with this:

With the clock running out on a new US-Russian arms treaty before the previous Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, expires on December 5, a senior White House official said Sunday said that the difficulty of the task might mean temporarily bypassing the Senate’s constitutional role in ratifying treaties by enforcing certain aspects of a new deal on an executive levels and a “provisional basis” until the Senate ratifies the treaty.

“The most ideal situation would be to finish it in time that it could be submitted to the Senate so that it can be ratified,” said White House Coordinator for Weapons of Mass Destruction, Security and Arms Control Gary Samore. “If we’re not able to do that, we’ll have to look at arrangements to continue some of the inspection provisions, keep them enforced in a provisional basis, while the Senate considers the treaty.”

Samore said administration lawyers are exploring the “different options that are available. One option is that both sides could agree to continue the inspections by executive agreement; that would work on our side. On the Russian side, as I understand it, that would require Duma approval.”

The Obamessiah is bigger than the law and the Constitution. The media will applaud this abuse of power as a bold and brilliant move.

Under the rules of the Senate, this is an acceptable option for the President.

While it sounds horrible, it is not unheard of. Lets get mad at stuff that matters, not stuff that is legal, but rare.

I wonder if this man doesn’t understand that all he did was win an election. He didn’t become dictator.

As long as they get their pork, the Democrats in the Senate will see to it that there are no effective protests against this violation of the Senate’s constitutional role.

They’ve already surrendered their constitutional rights when they kept silent about all the illegalities of Government Motors, or Obama’s odd habit of not giving them any chance at all to read his thousand-page spending bills before they are obliged to vote for them.

Not to mention his biggest violation of the Constitution—running for POTUS without being an American.

No, I don’t even think he’s even a citizen, let alone a natural-born citizen. And every day that passes confirms me more strongly in that belief, a logical conclusion drawn from the evidence that has escaped his control.

I hope that our military puts him in jail if he flagrantly violates the Constitution. They are essentially sworn to do just that.

it seems that most Americans don’t understand that.... with the tv’s help, the once brave American citizen has already caved... they seem to have wanted a dictator to take over their lives.. feed them, house them, and ration their health care..... sounds a lot like slavery to me

>might mean temporarily bypassing the Senate’s constitutional role in ratifying treaties

If the Senate can be bypassed thusly, what is the point in having them involved in treaties anyway?

You mean like passing a bill which has giant gaping holes “to be filled in later”?

(How is that NOT blatantly Ex Post Facto lawmaking?)

Back during the Cold War, I was trained as a nuclear war analyst and strategist. One of the most important things to understand is HOW YOUR OPPONENT THINKS. This is cultural. Russians have a national character and way of warfare.

Liberals that I know often thought of the Russkies as fellow liberals because they were commies. However, Russians are NATIONALIST. They want their empire back, they want to be a superpower, and they are patient chess players.

I watched the nuclear reductions of the 1990s with skepticism. If the Russians did not cheat....they would not be acting like Russians!

If Obambi unilaterally disarms, there is a strong possiblity of a BOOB (Bolt Out Of the Blue) thermonuclear attack on America. CHECKMATE. With America defeated and a commanding nuke arsenal, the Russians would expect to dominate all competitors including China.

This is not pure paranoia. It can really happen.

With the missiles incoming, Obama would be on the phone surrendering and asking what we did to offend them!

Is anyone surprised that this comes from Nuclear Arms Reduction Czar who has no official designation in the official structure of our government as defined by the constitution?

As CinC, Dear Leader sets priorities and determines force posture. That means he could “stand down” nukes or something like that. Completely legal and consititional.

Through executive orders he can do many things with/to the military, and that includes shifting force posture readiness resulting in decreased nuclear readiness.

Sad to say.
