I do not believe Gov. Palin could win the nomination at this time. I don’t know what the future holds, but do not believe her resignation as governor helps her case.

Dole got the nomination, after resigning from Senate.

This election was held during Dole’s term as Senator. Palin’s term as governor would have been over in 2010-well before 2012. I don’t think Dole should have resigned anyway. of course Dole was clear about this, and said he was resigning because he was running for presidency. I did not hear Gov. Palin say this in her speech-way to early.
