I want to wait until after Independence Day was over before I posted this. Obama didn't do much in the way of appearances today -- but he did send an email to his 'supporters.' He "rewrites" history in the following email.
"Friend --
This weekend, our family will join millions of others in celebrating America. We will enjoy the glow of fireworks, the taste of barbeque, and the company of good friends. As we all celebrate this weekend, let's also remember the remarkable story that led to this day.
Two hundred and thirty-three years ago, our nation was born when a courageous group of patriots pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to the proposition that all of us were created equal.
Our country began as a unique experiment in liberty -- a bold, evolving quest to achieve a more perfect union. And in every generation, another courageous group of patriots has taken us one step closer to fully realizing the dream our founders enshrined on that great day.
Today, all Americans have a hard-fought birthright to a freedom which enables each of us, no matter our views or background, to help set our nation's course. America's greatness has always depended on her citizens embracing that freedom -- and fulfilling the duty that comes with it.
As free people, we must each take the challenges and opportunities that face this nation as our own. As long as some Americans still must struggle, none of us can be fully content. And as America comes ever closer to achieving the perfect Union our founders dreamed, that triumph -- that pride -- belongs to all of us.
So today is a day to reflect on our independence, and the sacrifice of our troops standing in harm's way to preserve and protect it. It is a day to celebrate all that America is. And today is a time to aspire toward all we can still become.
With very best wishes,
President Barack Obama

P.S. -- Our nation's birthday is also an ideal time to consider serving in your local community. You can find many great ideas for service opportunities near you at http://www.serve.gov. "
I agree. Usually a president is more high profile on Independence Day.
As long as some Americans still must struggle, none of us can be fully content.
So Workers Unite? Is the country only OK when the poor and the illegals do not struggle, but the taxpayers do?
This man is 47 years old and doesn't realize that Life is a struggle and always will be.

I think it’s his daughter’s birthday; perhaps they focussed on that.
Isn’t that the truth.
We have many people in this nation who screwed off their whole lives. And now the government is charged with rescuing them.
Cut this welfare program out. Give people six months to find a job or else.
We have no idea how many people are getting a free ride on the backs of the rest of us.
Please God let us go forward and with hast onto the 2012 presidential race and elect a President who loves her country, amen.

— he thinks it is my _duty_ to get health insurance even though I would rather not. I am never, or rarely, sick, and I don’t go to the doctor. [I self-treat with herbs and lemons and water, if I get a cold!] And then, if I choose not to get insurance, it is my _duty_ to pay a thousand-dollar fine.
I am so mad. Freedom! Liberty! YES there is a duty - but the duty doesn’t involve things like that thousand-dollar fine, or mandatory insurance. *sigh*
He was busy at the masjid..
Freedom my a$$, Obama. Step down and maybe we’ll talk.
Obama is not just a terrible president, he’s a terrible American.

“I don’t think our founders envisioned a “perfect” union. They were too smart for that.”
Right. They said “a more perfect union”.
Also, the PS caused the BBQ to end up on the keyboard.
(My) PS
To let off steam I google zero’s name + any bad word I can think of.
Don’t feel bad. I stepped on my laptop today and cracked the LCD screen. At least it still works. I’m blowing off steam by watching a DVR of “1776,” on TCM earlier tonight.
I just finished watching it on TCM. I had never seen it before. What a great movie.
ok..i got to re-read it again..BRB!
“Usually a president is more high profile on Independence Day.”
Yes, made me miss Pres. Bush (W). I didn’t agree with him on everything (borders, gov’t. spending), but he sure seemed to be proud of his country and visible on days like today.
Read the Preamble to the Constitution of these United States, in re “more perfect union.” It is true that this phrase was not used in connection with the Declaration of Independence, but it holds an important place in our founding philosophy.
