Palin's 2012 Two-Step
The Washington Post ^ | July 4, 2009; 9:18 PM ET | Chris Cillizza

Palin's 2012 Two-Step For those people who doubted whether the Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's (R) resignation decision yesterday was freighted with 2012 presidential implications, we present two pieces of evidence.

First, Palin released a statement on her Facebook page today that not only castigated the media for how they covered her announcement ("How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country," she wrote) but only sounded a distinctly presidential note.

Said Palin:

I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness! Those lines would fit almost perfectly into a stump speech in Iowa or New Hampshire -- two states you should expect to see Palin in sometime soon.

The second piece of evidence regarding Palin's national ambitions came later today when her private attorney -- Thomas Van Flein -- released a four-page statement seeking to quash rumors that the Alaska governor's decision to resign was motivated by ethics problems.

If Sarah Palin renounced sex, public life and said she was entering a Nunnery, the Washing Compost and the NY Slimes would perpetually protest at the Nunnery. Bunch of rabid dogs. Objectivity - they can’t spell it.

Sarah Palin may never be President. What she is is a courageous patriotic lady who loves what America once stood for. She makes all the Rinos and liberals ashamed of their treasonous behavior in selling America down the drain. If only the men of America had 10% of the courage and righteousnous of this Lady. I will vote for her, support her, and pray for her and her family no matter what they do! Margaret Thatcher prolonged Britain’s day, maybe Sarah can prolong this shining city on a hill.

Sarah Palin could be just the leader that the conservative movement could use right now. The conservative movement has been in a doldrums for some time now and could use an energetic and inspiring leader. Also the conservative movement has been yanked around by the Republican party for too long, Sarah Palin more than anyone knows the treachery of the “what's in it for me” Republicans who put their careers before the national good. Sarah Palin can be a clean break from the past. Who else is better equipped to take on the country club crowd that stabbed her in the back? Sarah Palin could be the Joan of Arc of the conservative movement. Maybe in a few years the RINOS will be coming to her on their hands and knees. Love it.

It may not be political suicide [as others are claiming] if she were to say the right things. Those things, in my opinion, are:

1) that she’s leaving the state in good executive stewardship with the Lt. Gov.

2) that her political enemies are wasting the state’s resources by bringing up allegations of ethics violations; by resigning, the state is better off.

3) resigning, given the conditions stated above, her aspirations for president are much easier.

4) that she seeks the presidency not for the power (after all, she resigned a position of power) but to be a check on the severe imbalance of power in the legislative branch (if she were to win) and to help keep the balance in the judicial branch (also if she might win).

If she states these things, many in the Republican Party will be impressed by the reasoning and the principles behind her political moves.

Suppose, just suposing, she came up in 2010 saying ‘’If you would vote for me in 2012, vote GOP in 2010.’’ Would that shake Crissy or not?

Fear not, lad!

This happens 2-3 times in a lifetime (so says the Bible). Read the minor prophets of the Old testament about how God lets “the truth fall in the public square” (sound familiar?), and corruption reigns, etc. I saw this in the late seventies. It was the Arabs buying up America back then. Everyone thought all was lost.

It says that God lets things go sour so that He may glorify Himself by putting everyone at his mercy and then miraculously turning things around.

I guarantee you, in two years America will be doing good and our enemies will be kissing our feet as they were in the 1990’s. This is the cycle of destruction and resurrection among nations.

Regards

I must admit I was not impressed with Sarah Palin when she was nominated for vice president. But now that I have seen how much the libs hate her, I have come around.

It's even more personal and vicious than it was with W. I think it's the non-abortion of the "defective" that angers them most.

I think it’s that the libtards no longer feel that they must hide their true feelings as much. It’s always been that personal and vicious, but they used to think they had to pretend it wasn’t.

This is a move that is perplexing both sides.

Palin must know by now that she can not trust the Democrats, the media or any of the Republican “blue bloods”, who consider anyone from outside the Beltway unacceptable.

But even more than unacceptable, they are all down right afraid!

Afraid of what might happen if she was able to bypass their “good old boy network”, and connect directly with the citizenry of America.

And they know the real numbers associated with turn out at the Tea Parties. They know the people are restless and unhappy. All it takes is one spark - one down to earth woman who can rally the silent majority, and get them marching in the streets!

It's why the Democrats and the media have still been hammering her since the election. And it's why the Republican leadership stands silently by while she is being vilified.

They are all scared!! Scared of a little house wife from Alaska!

And Sarah is probably sitting back, laughing her head off, enjoying all the idiots frantically searching for an answer to what she's up to.

This could turn out to be a very interesting summer! I hope her first interview is with Rush Limbaugh!

“They are all scared!! Scared of a little house wife from Alaska!”

I generally agree with Thomas Jefferson: “Were our State a pure democracy...there would yet be excluded from their deliberations...women, who, to prevent depravation of morals and ambiguity of issue, should not mix promiscuously in the public meetings of men.” (Letter from Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval)

However, there are occasional exceptions. The ‘Cuda is clearly such an exception. Character by the bucket.
