Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov told Ekho Moskvy radio he has reasons to believe that "ultimately, this thoughtless and very dangerous step will not be made - there will be neither radar nor missiles."

Agreed. The story clearly states this is a presumption of a top Russian pol and that O isn't as thrilled as his predecessor but hasn't made a final choice.

Of course this is no defense of O just that the title is a little misleading. Then again the title could be spot on in a day or two.

I know what you mean but I am sure that I have read that he was against a missile shield in the first place. It is not hard at all imagining him giving up the shield. In fact, I would be more surprised if he didn’t. But we will have to wait and see.
