Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin plans to remain extremely visible and will give serious consideration to running for president in 2012, but has made no decision, a close friend said after her startling announcement Friday that she will resign her office.
Friends say Palin plans to spend time writing her book, which is due this fall, then promote it heavily when it comes out in spring 2010.
Palin is by far the Republican Party's biggest draw for fund-raisers and conservative events, and the friends say she plans to spend a lot of time traveling in "the lower 48" states, as Alaskans call the continental U.S.
Those friends say she plans to give a series of paid speeches, and will also make free GOP appearances, raising money for the party and for issues. She also plans to help other candidates, collecting political IOUs for herself.

Someone needs a nap. ;-P
She did not ramble at all.
This word has been chosen by leftstream media to lump her in the same category as Mark Sanford.
Now HIS speech was really rambling.
Go read her speech for yourself, if you haven’t yet.
She made many cogent points...WITHOUT a Teleprompter!
Let's go to the video tape...
Do you really have a problem with her off-the-cuff, several thousand word statement and her use of the word progress?
“Bobby Jindal, Mitch Daniels and Rick Perry come to mind.”

Nice guys, but second stringers compared to Sarah.
Me too! Double down baby!
:o)
Thanks for the link. I normally don’t look at Big Media.
It seemed to me that she repeated “pass the ball so the team can win” several times, plus a phrase about “millions of dollars and wasted state time” more than once or twice, and some phrase about “More and more Alaska looks to the North for the future” which i really did not understand.
“Code” is probably not the correct phrase- she used idioms that may have been familiar to those in attendance, but were lost or obscure to others.
I’m sorry if you do not like my “rambling” opinion, but that was my impression (I’m looking for the speech to watch it a fourth time). She seemed to change direction abruptly and made several segues into asides. She presented a rapid flow of ideas that covered a broad space and touched on many varied ideas. For a “resignation speech” it was much less focused than others I have heard or read.
I knew that a post with any criticism of her would be unpopular but this is Free Republic and irony or no, I think that differing opinions should be expressed.
LOL... my hubby just said the same thing! ANYONE with half a brain will notice that.
I have only seen the video, is there a transcript?
Please don’t compare Sarah Palin to Sanford. Different league entirely, Sara Palin has class and strength.
That is not the reason she quit. I don’t know that is, but I would be surprised if she is even in the news by this time next year.
**************
Get ready to be surprised. And she didn’t “quit.” She will transfer the duties of AK Governor to her Lt. Gov. so that she can move ahead...aggressively...on the national level.
She quoted Gen. D. MacArthur: “We’re not retreating; we’re advancing in a different direction.”
Did Andrea Mitchell honestly believe that ANY of us thought for one moment that Andrea has anyone inside the Palin circle who would give her one second of their time, much less confide in her? There is a whole lot of media-types who are going to hate being out in the cold when she is president and Meg Stapleton sits them all in the back of the bus.
Obama could never have done what she did. I do not think she is a moron, those are your words and I reject them.
I think the comment was made in SARCASM mode....
I think she said more and more Alaska is looking North to the future.
But you could be right, Alaska has riches the Libs have tried to place off limits.
I don’t understand your reference to depleted uranium, though.
A little support for the party platform might have been nice. Even a mention about the “little peons” from the lower 48 that gave blind obedience to the ticket might help.
Obama got at least $50 million from foreign sources. When is Mr. Campaign Finance Reform John S. McCain going to call for hearings to investigate that?
Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
