She’s done.
After that rambling wreck of a speech I still don’t know why she is resigning.
Sarah Palin is Obi-Wan Kenobi. She just turned off her light saber and the dark side is taking a meaningless swipe. Meanwhile poor Luke is confused and a little frightened.
It amazes me that people think they see this far out who will be the strongest candidate or who doesn’t have a chance. When you look at history you see that the person who won often was written off a year before they won.
I suggest taking a deep breath and have some humility about our ability to predict the future.
I think she meant what she said in her speech. I still like her, I would consider voting for her along with several others. Who knows who will look the best in a few years. That’s a long time from now.
Sarah’s not done!
Palin’s actually not my choice for Republican nominee in 2012, but I don’t think this hurts her as much as some seem to think.
Americans love an underdog, and they love a comeback story. So the more the MSM writes her off, and the more they marginalize her....the more supporters she’ll gain should she choose to run in 2012.
During the election, she was ridiculed, saying that being governor of Alaska was not enough experience because Alaska was a small, backwoods state.
But resigning from Alaska is a political killer?

>>The lame-duck explanation was the most incoherent part of the entire statement: <<
For me it made perfect sense, coming from her. It is wildly outside normal politics.
I hope it is over. I wouldn’t expose myself or my precious family to that low life who would dare to attack an innocent baby who has Downs Syndrome. They are rotten. God forgive them cause I never will.
Sarah and her husband had to pay about $1/2 million to defend herself, and she came out smelling like a rose.
BUT how long can she keep this up financially?
I can see why she quit, but she might be more effective as a nonpolitician.
As Sarah said: STAY TUNED!
$500,000 in bullshit legal fees to defend from our totally corrupt legal system could break anyone. Those who hounded this great leader from office deserve to rot in hell - as they most certainly will.
Politics is filled with surprises and (semi surprises)
Nixon
1962 — Nixon said, “You won’t have Dick Nixon to kick around any more”
1968 — Nixon won the presidency.
1972 — Nixon won in a landslide
Obama
Jan. 22, 2006 — Obama told Russert, “I will serve out my full 6 year [Senate] term.
2007, 2008 -— Obama barely served his first two years in the Senate.
Clinton
While campaigning for governor in 1990, Clinton promised he would absolutely, positively finish his term not run for president in 1992.
America is desperate for change. If she plays this right, a lot of us will get behind her.
Time will tell. But never say never. I hope she succeeds in changing the way Americans surrender their liberty to politicians and government toadies.
Either way, she is a class act in my opinion, and I wouldn't blame her for walking away from the evil that is American politics. Her family is more important.
Just my opinion.
I'm sure she never expected the kind of attacks she has taken since she became a VP candidate last August. She has faced far more vitriol than your average politician ever has to deal with. I'm not sure I agree with her resigning at this time, but I can't say that I blame her all that much.
God be with Sarah as she fights for America and us.
Why am I not at all surprised that the little wussy boys at National Review seem a little giddy at Sarah’s stepping down? They never liked her anyway. She has what they don’t: a spine.
Talk about being misunderestimated!
Think before posting her obituary.
IMO, in some way the choice was presented to her by someone (I have no idea who or what the way was) - "Either your political career or your family will be destroyed; you choose!"
Sarah rightly chose to protect her family.
I want to try to stay positive about this but at the moment I think it’s more of a mistake than a victory.
To think the press won’t be on her can from now until 2012 about any and everything if she resigns is naive. They would be if she was or wasn’t in office. Might as well govern and get things done and keep the executive experience going. Barack’s going to have 4 years under his belt by then. MSM will be beefing him up and ripping her for not being in an executive governing role for 3 1/2 years.
She’ll be the one that ‘needs experience’.
Plus the press will not give her anything. They don’t love her the way they did Barack, every little misstep and stumble will be magnified, all of Barack’s will be hidden.
She might be able to campaign for 3 1/2 years getting funding and such but that’s a long time and people will get tired of her, MSM will probably stop covering her, Barack can stay in campaign mode for 3 1/2 years as well (he still is if youhaven’t noticed) and the MSM loves him and hates her. Guess who wins this one?
I right now don’t see much good in her decision. I can hope it is right.
Sarah is running for President.
I can see it in her eyes.
God bless her, and God bless America!
