Reports Palin Advised Staff/Supporters She Is Permanently Out Of Politics ARE NOT true!
Friends and Fiends in DC | MB26

Posted on 07/03/2009 3:21:45 PM PDT by MindBender26

Just spoke with people VERY well connected with Palin's DC operation.

Reports that she has announced to staff that she is permanently out of politics are NOT true.

Three caviats:

1: She may have told Alaska staff that she is out of politics forever. 2: She may have told Alaska staff that she is out of ALASKA politics forever. 3: Word may have not filtered down to DC yet.

That said, senior DC people very close to her think she is very far from out of politics.

That would be nice. At least someone from the GOP can be aggressive against Obama and his minions.

Will you help me enforce the New Rule?

I don’t know how to post pictures here. I suppose I should look around and find out how.

I agree wholeheartedly! Anyone who listened to her speech (given from the heart without notes or a teleprompter) knows exactly why she is doing this. She is putting her state and her country before what would appear to be the best thing for her own political ambitions. I think she realizes that she is Ronald Reagan's natural heir - with his charisma, core Conservative beliefs and values, and sense of who she is. It will take someone like her to have a chance to beat Obama in 2012. The opinions that some have of her are based on how the media has portrayed her in the past few months. When people have the opportunity to hear her speak when she is not being “handled”, they will see what a star she is!

[Sarah knows what she is doing. I am sick of hearing these so-called experts trying to figure out what is going on in her head. She is a smart girl. Mark Levin is talking about her right now. Bush 43 ran for a 2nd term as Governor and in the middle decided to run for President. It has happened. She is smart, now she can do what she wants, she isn’t tied down to Alaska anymore. She can spread her wings and fly now]

Had she not resigned and made just ONE move at running for Pres. she would have been hit with dozens of ethics complaints in addition to those currently in the works!

I did. I didn’t think it was that clear at all. Her talk about not wanting to serve out a lame duck term made little sense to me. Was she saying she can’t serve effectively as governor unless she’s running for re-election? Or was she saying that her interest in national politics would be too much of a distraction from the business of governing Alaska? Her term is up at the end of 2010 - does that really interfere with her running for President?

The business about a “full court press” definitely didn’t instill much confidence that either a) she plans to run for President or b) she could do so effectively. What she’s experiencing now is nothing compared to what she’ll be going through in 2012 if she runs, and that will be nothing compared to what she’d be going through afterwards as President should she win.

So yeah, I listened to her speech, and I stand by what I said.

IMO she is the new leader of the GOP.
If they don’t fall in behind her, they are trying to lose the next election.

Not Congress. Not good to be one of 435.

Have no insight yet as to what it was, but remember what Nixon did after the embarrassing loss in the Cal Gov race in ‘62.

By late ‘63, with Kennedy dead, Nixon, Pat and others had a very serious talk. They wanted back in the game, and they targeted ‘68, or if Johnson looked too strong in ‘67-early ‘68, they knew they would go for ‘72.

The big time Wall Street law firm of Mudge, Rose and Guthrie hired Nixon as a rainmaker. As such he got to travel all around the country.

Wherever he was, if some some Republican County Chairman was holding a clam bake, fish fry or whatever, to support any candidate running for any post more important than County Pothole Commissioner, Dick Nixon would come to your little dinner and give a great fundraising speech. His advertised attendance would double or triple ticket sales. He didn't charge a penny to come, and he stayed late until he had shaken hands with every person in the room.... and gotten their promise of a campaign contribution for the local R candidates.

He walked into the ‘68 R Convention with every county and state Republican Chairman, and their treasuries, in his hip pocket. They had all shaken hands with him, broken bread with him, had private moments with him as they drove him back to the airport, and he had raised millions for them.

Think of the people who would go to those dinners, It was estimated that Nixon had shaken hands with 85% to 90% of the ACTIVE Republicans in the country!

Behind the scenes, out of the sight of the national media, “The New Nixon” owned the ‘68 convention.

Sarah doesn't need a title or position (where the media and Dems can then criticize her actions and positions) to do the same thing for 2012.

If that happens, every time someone tries to call her a lightweight, 500 Republicans will be all over their case!

Thank you for the very informative post! Boo on the Senate idea. And I’m pretty sure she is smarter than that. She already said it won’t be “politics as usual” (Wasn’t that Obama’s phrase? I think it was - but obviously things haven’t changed.)

Most folks think Nixon’s quote of “Well, you won’t have Nixon to kick around any more” was from his presidential resignation. Of course it was from 1962.

But, Nixon was a fighter (”In the Arena”), and in it for the long haul - with the big picture in view. Sarah is a fighter too.

She is almost certainly out of elective politics.

She may help other candidates run but you just don’t get out of the game and expect to get anywhere on a national stage this far out.

Maybe she’ll go for a Senate seat or a Rep seat or something, but as a national political candidate she’s toast.

And no, I still have no earthly idea what the draw this woman has on some of you truly is....it’s astounding to me. Sure it’s nice she’s a conservative but some of you guys (especially the guys) act like 14 year olds in heat when she talks. Oh well. My .02.

Thompson is too old and Palin doesn’t have the national following to get elected yet.

That’s a 35% (at the most) ticket. That most certainly will NOT get it done.

Thompson is 67 now. I think he may be okay. Hell McCain is 72 and we may get stuck with him yet!
As far as Sarah not having the national Following .. that may be the very reason she got out of Alaska now. To build that following through grassroots.
She certainly can get media attention anytime that she wants.

Personally, I like the combo. Or At least I should say like their views.

McCain was too old a Decade ago. In this, we have something to copy the Democrats on - the top of their tickets which have won have always been young and energetic types. The GOP needs to break that "old bitter men" stigma anyway.

Either way, Palin just gave the Democrats enough ammo to shoot her down in any national elective race. Now that means fundraising is probably her future for the GOP. Personally, I like the combo. Or At least I should say like their views.

Liking their views is fine, but there is a lot more than having good views that goes into getting elected to a high office like the Presidency.

Hey, I didn't have time to answer sooner, I'm sorry. I remember the part about her speech where she said she asked her family if she should quit to fight outside of Alaska for families and children. Further, she gave the reasons for quiting the Governor position: to save Alaska from having to defend her from frivolous ethics actions.

Leaving the governor's office is risky in one area: that they can say she quit the only executive job she ever held. But, my guess is that the powers that be have plans for her. She will be running something that will make her free of ethics complaints, will give her a high news profile, and will give her a bolstered resume. She may be involved in some big conservative think tank or political action committee.

Nothing about Palin says quit. She is not retreating, just advancing in a different direction. (Another one of her quotes.)

If she were to "quit politics forever" it would be the biggest squandering of spontaneous political capital in the history of mankind. She is simply not the one to go down in history like that. Today her lawyers took the fight back to the mainstream media by threatening them with a defamation suit for suggesting that she quit because she was under federal investigation. This is a tactic that only works if you are not a sitting governor. Sarah is now in a position where she can fight back and look good doing it.

Take heart, She isn't done.

Well somehow i think there is a general ideal that older people have more life experience. Obama is going to fizzle fast because he has no experience. When the GOP realizes that they can capitalize on it well. The DNC wanted a new JFK, they looked for one in Kerry.
Image is important and a new inexperienced person from the RNC, may not be the best thing to replace an outgoing young person from the DNC.

>Either way, Palin just gave the Democrats enough ammo to shoot her down in any national elective race. Now that means fundraising is probably her future for the GOP. Personally, I like the combo. Or At least I should say like their views.<

They have been trying right along. She had her back to a wall. Now they have NOTHING except she left while in office not finishing her term. I don’t think it means much. Obama never had a term, no meaningful legislation, Nothing and they made him look good.

>Liking their views is fine, but there is a lot more than having good views that goes into getting elected to a high office like the Presidency.<

yes there is.
Accessibility to media - Palin can always get media attention, it depends on how she spins it. As long as fox likes her, they are getting more views than the rest combined.
Likability, she has a down to earth very likability that connects with people.
Energy, the woman knows no bounds.
Connections - she is connected, but they need to be worked on. She is perceived as a threat to all politicians because I suspect that she won’t play the game.

Plus she has something that not a whole lot of politicians have today. Core values. She is not about to change them any time soon.
The media can say what they want, but she has ripped through 15 ethics violations without a scratch, all unfounded. Thats why they had to talk about her clothes for the elections. No dirt.
Where as she can do some serious mud slinging, and I have no doubt that she will.

No more lame excuses for a party, we need that fight.
A real conservative.
