Palin Steps Down: Is It OVer for Her?
Pajamas Media ^ | July 3 | Stephen Green

Sarah Palin stepping down as Alaska governor.

I can describe this move in three words: Stupid, stupid, stupid. And the reason doesn’t matter.

She needs more time to run for President? What does she think holding the job is like, time-wise? President Obama could manage to serve as a totally undistinguished Senator while running for the White House; surely Palin could manage to govern half a million people a bit.

She wants to protect her family? Heat, low tolerance, kitchen, stay out of. And again, if she wants to be President, how doe she think her family would fare in the White House?

There’s some kind of new scandal? Well, in that case her Oval Office ambitions were over, anyway....

I listened to her entire announcement. It was honorable, it was direct, and it punctuated the insane politics of our day...it also punctuated her personal commitment to fight, and to do so when it would not distract further from her job as Governor and the foundation she has built there.

I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.

I think Sarah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.

...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!

I believe she will assist others greatly in 2010, and will run herself in 2012...and she has my full support.

GO SARAH GO!

while this is an incredibly risk move, she does get advantages from this:

1. She gets away from having to deal with the endless stream of unwarrented ethics complaints brought by the Democratic shills in Alaska. They weren’t going to succeed, but they kept her from focusing on a bigger agenda and spending the needed time.

2. She suddenly has time to take a national role and could be on television every weekend if she wanted in a good way - either fundraising or leading other initiatives...

which brings me to ..

3. What if she takes a big role in attacking the Cap & Trade legislation. It is a huge issue in the national consciousness - one she knows a great deal about and one that public is very skeptical about. It puts her in the national eye, on the right side and in an area where she has great expertise.

A conservative rout for Cap&Trade might also make National healthcare die a quick death.

I think this might be the plan.. but, if she was Governor, she couldn’t take the lead on this.

JMO...

Hey Pajamas Media....you got a Skeleton staff on Holidays doing the News ? Or did some Democrats take over your Holiday writing ?

She wants to cut down her Commute time...besides, Alaska winters make it dangerous to land in -35 below weather.

It also cuts off ALL attacks on her Children....well, it will reduce them somewhat.

from the link

Maybe I’m rash in saying this, but I think that makes her unfit for higher office.

Yah, maybe. Or maybe the name "vodkapundit" contains a clue.

It's a long and winding road to the next presidential election. How foolish to be making declarations like this.

I bet Huckabee is squealing with pleasure like a pig in fresh mud. "All those religious conservative votes are now MINE!" is likely what he's thinking.

What a shame. Palin had time to develop the policy heft to go with her charisma. I suppose she still does, but it sounds like she's just sick of politics altogether. The desire may be gone altogether.

The howling hypocrites on the left just hounded a woman off the national stage--and not just any woman, a woman who had demonstrated talent and ability that no womyn on left could hope to match.

If Sarah Palin is leaving politics, then I offer my best wishes and can deeply sympathise with her decision to leave politics.

If Palin is preparing a 2012 campaign, then she no longer has my support. Yes the media have been overtly hostile to her and her family. Yes the democrats have said mean things about her family and filed frivolous suits against her. But if she IS planning to run, why does she think it will be any better for a presidential candidate than a governor?

If Palin wants to be a politician, then leaving politics is the worst thing she could do.

Is it over for Palin?

In a word, yes. She has thrown in the towel.

I don’t think anything Sarah Palin does is stupid! I hope she does run for the Senate, if not the White House. She represents my values - thoroughly Constitutional, positively honest, and solidly conservative. May God bless her and smooth her path where ever she chooses to go next. I loved her statement that only fish go with the flow. She is one in a million. Shame on the media, ubckydubg FOX News. Shame on the far left who fear her to extent of attempting to sully her reputation. That is NOT the job of the press. That can only be expected from a ruthless left wing with an unAmerican agenda!

I hope you are right. Unfortunately, I don’t think you are. She just needs to take care of her family and go away. (Donning flame suit now)

Sorry Madison,

Sarah Pallin is leading and not running for office.

She has been badly mistreated by McCain, media and even the republicans, but I do not believe that she is reacting to that.

She is telling all that if you want her as a leader then we (the public) needs to demand that we work for the best interests of this country and stop playing games that demeans us and wasting lots of money.

She has stood tall as a patriot and is doing the right thing for Alaska. Only a few have tried to stop the insane vicious attacks and legal costs on her and her family.

God Bless America and Sarah Pallin.

Go SARAH!

I found her comments about supporting good candidates of any party interesting—wondering if she is not considering Libertarian or a TaxPayer party if GOP is going to keep backbiting her—not saying that is good, just interesting.

Sara’s action is irrelevant to me. I already gave up on the republicans over two years ago and this nation not long after that.

I’m living in Galt’s Gulch...waiting.

I’ve followed her only with curiosity. It will be too late by 2012 anyway. I’m pretty confident of that.
