The GOP needs to quickly learn what most of us already know. People are NOT “leaving the GOP in droves because the GOP has swung too far to the right.” People are leaving the GOP because it’s become DemocRATS Lite.

I am conservative, I am not a Republican.

Social conservatism VS so called fiscal conservatism.

So called because I've not met a "fiscaller" that wasn't socially liberal.

During the Giuliani campaign the term Socon was turned into a pejorative right here on FR. Apparently the liberal SoBs using the term haven't learn a thing.

Country Clubbers = failure.

So, if conservatives leave the GOP, which is understandable, who do they vote for that has a chance to win? Just asking.

The ones around here say they don’t want people telling them what to do in their bedrooms, but they are more than willing to let libs tell them what to do in every other area of life.

You are correct. I am a conserv-Pub. I vote for conservs who run and support them. There are 2 parties in this nation. Period. People do not want to face that but that is it. So conservs have to stay in the Party to make sure it will keep the party Reaganized not McCainized. Dems know that once the Pubs split or are riven by so many yelling voices, they will be a one party dictatorship for our lives. This nonsense of another party getting elected is just that. Our history shows it and unless we who are conserv want to disappear Congressionally, we will reform the GOP to be a real opposition to the Dems’ socialist pacifism. BTW, I am 70, and have been teaching political science now for almost 50 years so age alone has shown this opinion to be supported by historical fact not just wishes!!

I can only speak for myself. Last election I was faced with a horrible candidate so I voted for Palin instead. McFail was just riding on her coattails.

I would be very comfortable voting for her again. Not so much for her ability to win but instead for her conservative principles.

I generally find that it is impossible to be truly fiscally
conservative when one is not socially conservative as well. What one’s morals are ultimately define what one does with one’s own or other folks money entrusted to one!
