Notice the woman standing under the street light, plying her trade, and how anxious the young man is to get over to her. “A Sailor Doesn’t Have to Prove He’s a Man,” the poster says. “Remember, there’s no medicine for regret.”

I dont think this story covers either the inhabitants of Perth or the US Navy with much glory.
So typical. Navy hits port; higher demand increases prices; sailors are out of $$ by day 3; Marines come to town and negotiate prices lower than original - AND get better service from rested personnel!

Then brothel madam Mary-Anne Kenworthy said her staff and workers at other brothels had become exhausted and that she would rather stop business than offer customers an inferior service.
Sounds like the Marines have landed.....
Understand NOW is complaining because the women’s section isn’t doing the same.
Must be the ‘new’ times, but back in MY day the HOP would not be shut down for fatigue, the ‘workers’ would just ‘buck it up’ and ‘make hay while the sun shone’. Can’t let a couple of Battle Groups get underway without all being ‘serviced’....
