The blogosphere is in an uproar today over the latest kerfuffle regarding the sometimes-sickeningly sweet relationship between U.S. president Barack Obama and the media, and most especially the Washington, D.C. media coterie that seems to surround and protect Mr. Obama in a blanket of exceedingly favorable new reportage.
News reports breaking today, by Politico.com and others, are again highlighting this questionable relationship which in this case seems to be that the Washington Post has been attempting to create salons in the home of Post publisher Katharine Weymouth in which lobbyists could pay from 25,000 to 250,000 dollars for what Politico says the Post has called (in a flier given to various industry lobbyists) off the record access to the powerful few in the Obama Administration.
To say that, on its face, such salons would appear to violate every standard of journalistic integrity would be an understatement. But this seems to be just part and parcel of a worrisome trend in the mainstream media, which seems to have had an inordinate interest in providing cover for President Obama going back to the 2008 election campaign, according to this Pew Research Center report excerpt:

As I’ve said, the MSM did more fact-finding on Joe the Plumber in 24 hours than they did on Baraq in 24 months.
It just plain stinks, but we have to find a way to overcome it if we ever have another election.
The media get more brazen every day. They don’t even seem to care about ‘plausible deniability’ of their bias anymore. They know they are zero’s cheerleaders and it seems almost as if they are proud of it.
It would seem that Chip Reed and Helen Thomas knew something.........
It was like theater. Gibbs was obviously uncomfortable and it showed. Now, the Left is savaging old Helen for her temerity in questioning the Obama adminstration over its manipulation of the media at the healthcare townhall and other “events.”
I used to think that some kind of intervention was necessary, or maybe a massive class action suit. I am now starting to sense that the market will remedy the situation. Newspapers are dying everywhere. Fox News beats CNN and MSNBC hands down. It's only a matter of time. I just hope we have enough time.
gibbs invited them to bring him their opinions today, after the Town Hall.
So now the buffoon is uncomfortable. hah!
As for the left saving their duenna...........more hah.
she’s been their most reliable Bush hater all these years.
Chip and Helen might want to stay away from Ft. Marcy Park and buy electronic car starters. A bodyguard might be in order, as well.
Fox News has the ratings, but they’re not completely “fair and balanced” either.
If they were, they’d have sent their own staff to Kenya to search for the original birth certificate back when the topic first came up. They could do a lot more research on Zer0 than they have.
And a food taster.
Oh the hypocrisy......NBC CBS and the rest would be Pooping Bricks if This was FoxNews and W.....
Extra-large "Duh" factor, there. If their journalistic integrity weren't already compromised, they would have noted the Obama WH's press manipulation long ago.
Does anyone know if there was a White House Press Briefing today and where it is? Gibbs was telling Helen to ask him today about the town hall questions. I want to see if they brought up the obvious staging of the event and this issue?
