Tuesday night on Hugh's program, we discussed the Vanity Fair article about Sarah Palin and why, eight months after the election, Palin still arouses such fury amongst liberals and so many rank-and-file Democrats. ...

They hate her because they fear her. The more they attack, the stronger she becomes.
They hate her just as they hate average Americans. She is of the people & reeks of common sense.
I thnnk they hate her because she’s an outsider and new and got instant popularity.
"She is the embodiment of the anti-choice, the opposite of every choice that lefty elites have ever made as to going back home instead of moving to the west coast, having children, having a child with Down's, staying married to one man the whole time, choosing rural or suburban over urban and living a generally conservative lifestyle, working with her hands . . . That everything she is is the antithesis of everything that liberal urban elites are, so it's not just enough to say, 'I disagree with you,'; she has to be repudiated and crushed."
Why Mitt Hates Her:
Because he knows she stands in the way of the GOP nomination that he thinks is his birthright.
Geraghty’s article isn’t bad, as far as it goes. Though he missed a great opportunity to tie the morals and discipline of conservatives, and their (generally speaking) higher willingness to subordinate themselves to God, to their generally greater happiness, using Sarah Palin as an example.
But I still don’t get the Angelina Jolie comparison. Jolie is a freak, and to me the very antithesis of Sarah Palin. Where the heck did that come from, Jim?
If being good looking is a requirement for elected officials, male or female, it sure isn’t being enforced very closely.
Because they are haters and it’s time we start confronting that fact.
“But I still dont get the Angelina Jolie comparison.”
They hate her because of what she represents - a self-made, self-assurred woman who has demonstrable values. They are afraid of her and in a frenzy to define her - before she defines herself.
But would you call Angelina Jolie the “Sarah Palin of motion pictures”?
I sense you’re just kidding, but I’m not positive.
Anyway, Angelina Jolie looks to me like an, er, encounter you’d regret later when your diseased Johnson came off in your hand.
LOL!!
Yeah, you’re right — I was thinking especially for GOP women. But also in presidential candidates in the last decade or two. I just don’t think whether a candidate is attractive should really be part of the discussion at all.
Why do they hate her? Elementary my dear Watson...they know she may very well become the next president.
Don’t hate her because she’s beautiful.
Don’t hate her because she’s smart.
Don’t hate her because she is going to be the FIRST
Female President.
Add into the mix that she is a conservative; that she is a leader (and not just a cue card reader); that she is a woman (perhaps a 'Deborah' for our times); that she didn't abort her last child -- yeah, that will bring the Harpies out in full force...
