President Barack Obama says he's never believed that affirmative action is as much of an issue as it's been made out to be. He says it hasn't been as "potent a force for racial progress" as its supporters have said, and that it hasn't been as bad for white students or job applicants as its critics say.
In an Associated Press interview Thursday, Obama said affirmative action can be made an "afterthought" when problems such as malnutrition, poverty and substandard schools are dealt with, and "everybody has a level playing field."

Talking out of both sides of the teleprompter again. Voting Present.
Darn, Zero! Take a stand, will you?
Of course he does.....let me count the many reasons why...lets start with:
1) He is a Far Left Liberal Dem
2) He is black
3) He does not believe in the arguments of ‘reverse dicrimination’
4) Etc.
5) Etc.
6) Etc.
Back away from the bong once in awhile Obama...
Affirmative action is how “zero” “achieved” all that he has.
“Talking out of both sides of the teleprompter again. Voting Present.”
ObaMugabe obviously hasn’t heard about Ricci vs New Haven, Sotomayor’s wise latina and reverse discrimation.
Of course he would downplay AA. Release your college transcripts!
Malnutrition? So we aren’t entitled to the best doctors, lawyers and fireman chiefs possible until all minority mothers feed their babies properly?
Affirmative action is a big reason why he's President. A decent percentage voted for him solely on his skin color; I doubt 52% of Americans are Marxists. I know many people who vote Dem are too stupid to vote, so we can figure they would have voted for 0 regardless of his race. But that still leaves a sizable chunk of the electorate that voted for him because of his ethnicity. Heck, even Colin Powell voted for him because he was black.
Agreed. A not insignificant millions of white people voted for Obama simply because he was black. For the most part, their expectation was that "The First Black President" would mean the end of racial strife.
It's rarely mentioned as a consideration, but he won't have this going for him when he stands for re-election.
There’s no such thing as reverse discrimination. It’s just discrimination...
“when problems such as malnutrition”
Give me a break. It’s Obama’s policies that are going to bring about malnutrition.
That POS AA hire can “afterthought” AA all he want’s, it’s worth fighting against and 11 firefighters just proved it.
He hasn't talked to any white men who worked at Ford in the '80s, then...
(signed: white man who worked at Ford in the '80s)
Left: affirmative action = good & fair
Real meaning:
1) Special treatment for only certain groups.
2) Government sanctioned discrimination (TO ALL: Please stop using “reverse discrimination” as that is meaningless)
3) Ignore ability and success and adhere to quotas.
These are strange words from someone who has just nominated a quota queen to the high court. SM is strongly committed to quotas and racial preferences based on her court cases and speeches. The Messiah knows that the left is strongly committed to quotas. The racial grievance industry has its entire livelihood devoted to racial preferences. The left wants to expand racial preferences into full blown quotas. Titlt IX is the purest vision of quotas. The left wants to extend Title IX into the entire society.
This guy has such an immature world view. He sounds idiotic much of the time. Low expectations and a lack of belief in self are what plague inner city blacks, not malnutrition, poverty, and substandard schools. US blacks have a significantly higher obesity rate than whites, so malnourishment is not to blame. Poverty is not caused by the success of others, although Obama seems to think so. Home schooled children do as well or better than many or most of those who attend public school, so it's not the building or the computer lab etc. that determines academic success. It comes down to believing in oneself, having ambition, having a supportive home environment, feeling safe in school, and having a good work ethic.
The One pronounced it, so it must true
So Oshama is saying he really did EARN his job as editor of Harvard Law Review?
The only qualification that President Obama brought to the table was that he was black (and an excellent reader).
If people wanted a 'competent' and experienced marxist, they would have gone for Hillary. If they wanted to maintain some semblance of sanity in our economic and foreign policies they would have gone for McCain. A vote for Hopey-Changey was simply a vote for skin color in order to assuage 'guilt'. 'Guilt' for what - I don't know - given that mankind has been dealing poorly with each other since the days of Cain; but somehow a vote for Hopey-Changey was going to make all things well...
There is only one way to absolve the 'Guilt'. Recognize that we are all sinners (regardless of the hue of our skin) - and Jesus alone can cleanse. Putting 'hope' in man is foolish. Putting 'hope' in a man with an empty resume (other than a affection for marxist policies, and a zeal for abortion) is insane.
Well, now that affirmative action got him to the White House, it really isn’t much of an issue to him anymore. He got his, the rest of you can just go away.
