CNBC ^ | 7/2/2009 | Staff

"We're in the middle of a crash," Taleb said. "So if I'm going to forecast something, it is that it's going to get worse, not better."

The government needs to deleverage debt and not try stimulus packages that will inflate assets, he said.

"What makes me very pessimistic in not seeing any leadership or awareness on parts of government on what has to be done, which is deleverage $40-to-$70 trillion," Taleb said.

"The monkey on our back is debt," he added.

With all due respect, you’re wrong.

Those to blame are as follows:

1) GW Bush
2) unfair distribution of wealth
3) Gw Bush
4) Free market
5) Capitalism
6) Ronald Reagan and ‘trickle down’
7) GW Bush
8) Not enough gov’t regulation
9) global warming
10) GW Bush
11) Taxes not high enough
12) GW Bush

I fixed it for ya! :)

You think they can re-inflate the credit bubble?

It isn’t possible.

“thanks again to the 62 million idiots who voted for hype and change”

The so-called “Independent” voters should be blamed for this disastrous administration. They are the swing voters, and they put BO into office.

Well folks, I am in the midst of reading Taleb's book The Black Swan. I am really enjoying it. The guy is a professional skeptic...

Don’t ignore the conservatives who stayed home rather then vote for the lesser of two evils.

In listing the blame game about who is ruining America, you forgot Rush Limbaugh, talk radio, Christian/war veteran extremists, Republican obstructionists, lobbyists for Israel, and FOX news ; )

When you now have a former SNLer as a US Senator I would say Animal House is a no longer a gross out coemdy but more a documentary.

good point!

Do be sure to add the “tea baggers” (pfft) to the list, as I will be with them in St. George, UT at 9:00am Saturday morning!

They can kiss my “go to hell.” Seriously.

I sorry, sometimes my “wise ass” takes over my brain.

My daughter and her boyfriend of two years take a lot of grief from their friends about abstaining. I praise them every chance I get. I figure three or four praises from me offsets one set of grief.

Again, i apologize if I offended.

One of the final scenes in Animal House purports to show the future "Senator and Mrs. John Blutarsky", so your observation is quite apt. Except that Belushi was a hell of a lot funnier.

I was off by exactly .5 percent, which I predicted the day the magnificent stimulus plan passed. Pretty good. Better than Joe Biden.

Btw, on Fox News, I’m being treated to watching The Dumbest Human Being I’ve Ever Seen Who Held an Important Job.”

This Christina Romer might be a nice lady, but as God in heaven as my witness, I’ve concluded she has never finished 8th grade, or that she smokes a great deal of pot.

In my entire life, I’ve never heard a single person who sounded more profoundly stupid on the facts, and high on the attitude. She sounds seriously nuts.

Now I understand why even the leftwing institution refused to give her tenure. Even they couldn’t hide her idiocy.
