FORT WORTH Two legislators called Wednesday for an outside agency to investigate how a Euless man was injured early Sunday in the custody of Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents at a gay bar south of downtown.
State Rep. Lon Burnam and state Sen. Wendy Davis, both Fort Worth Democrats, said they met with commission officials Wednesday about what happened at the Rainbow Lounge, 651 S. Jennings Ave.
"We had more questions than they had answers," Burnam said. "But thats understandable at this point."

On Wednesday, the commission issued its first statement about the disturbance, which occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday. According to the statement, agents and police officers "conducted joint inspections of three TABC-licensed locations in Fort Worth to ensure compliance with state alcoholic beverage laws and local ordinances."

Maybe if they were wearing some clothes, they wouldn’t have been raided.
There was no raid.
It was a routine inspection.
Expect this to make national news and result in my brave, conservative city to be inundated by the SF crowd. Large counter-protests are in order.
Probe. Shouldn’t the headline writer have used the word “probe”?
“Ft. Worth (TX) Lawmakers seek Independent Probe into Gay Bar Incident.”
Hayna or no?
I am kinda SURPRISED to hear of a gay bar in Ft Worth, TX!!! Yes, if this had happenned at a NORMAL bar, the media would have covered it up.
Yes, I'm not aware of them either, except when something like this makes the news. My understanding is that there are just a few, and they are short-lived establishments. I've heard that this is the third of fourth attempt to open a bar at this location.
There is really nothing to cover up - the officers and agents were conducting a routine inspection and observed many intoxicated patrons, evidenced by them making obscene, lewd gestures toward the officers. The injured man had grabbed one of the agents in the crotch - a act worthy of injury. But these inconvenient details will soon be drowned out by the screams for police blood and abject grovelling before their homosexual superiors.
In the local news today, FW Police have been soliciting witness accounts and have received hundreds of phone calls related to this bar incident. Strangely, only two callers claimed to have even been inside the building.
Stonewall II?..........................
Very poorly written, buried the lead.
If they try to riot in Ft Worth, they're in for a very rude awakening.
Obfuscation usually is.
Bingo. A straight bar would never make the news but as we all know, the PC crowd is above the law and most times can make their own laws.
TABC has had a history of harassing people at bars. They have arrested people at hotel bars, who were staying at the hotel, saying “they appeared drunk”, no sobriety tests, no breath tests. There was so much harassment a few years ago that Austin had to recall their enforcement unit.
I preface the following by saying that for years I worked as an investigator for a large Texas city’s City Attorney office. Part of my job was to investigate the claims against officers. I have found that the great majority of the time, the police lied to cover up their actions. Just like anyone else, they CYA. The statements by the police smell to high heaven.
Did some things happen? Probably. But probably no worse groping than would occur in a straight bar. Did the patrons know the cops were cops before the raid? No, they were plain-clothes officers in before the “inspection”. Did the TABC go overboard? From the photographs, quite probably.
I hate to say it, but I’ve seen it way too many times. There are people wearing the uniform that don’t need to be police officers. They’re not in there to protect or serve; they’re in there because they like bully people using the color of law
I find it especially disturbing that two Texas legislators are grovelling before the gaystapo because of this incident. Of course, they are Democrats, so I’m not surprised.
The gaystapo will throw an infantile tantrum regardless of the outcome of the “investigation.” I’m sure the legislators will find a completely unbiased organization to conduct this inquisition, like the HRC perhaps?
two other places were raided that night that were not gay bars - wonder when the gays will ‘march’ because of those raids
bars are sacred for gays - everything in their lives revolve around gay bars - most of the gay bars in dallas are owned by an old fat bald cigarsucking man named caven - he had an attraction to very young gays - he finally settled down with one and moved to florida to open a few bars down there - after he died of aids, his ‘wife’ got the bars - the wife died of aids and now its a corporation
caven made a FORTUNE on those bars - every few years one would accidently burn down and reopen after a remodel - sometimes they skip the fire and just remodel
those bars are wildly popular among gays and usually have a long line of people standing in long lines of barely legals waiting to pay up to $20 cover charge to get inside
i don't recall a ‘march’ when lots of the patrons came down with hepatitis traced back to one of the bartenders at a caven bar
dallas queens held a ‘million gay march’ in a park to protest the bar raid in fort worth - they are furious about this
the simple answer is don't break the law and you won't be arrested - which they do not want to hear - taking **** up the **** ***** exempts you from those laws
wonder when the gays will ‘march’ to support what that fine example of gay family values frank lombard did
Look for legislation from Washington to prohibit any regulation of gay bars or other establishments.
