They've already started. They're trying to clear the field by dirtying up possible opponents (or helping them self-destruct as in the case of Sanford).

I'm not married to Palin as our candidate in 2012. I'm perfectly willing to look at other solid conservatives who are out there. But our message as the conservative base must be crystal clear:
