BUSH PRAISES NEW NAMESAKE LIBRARY
First lady speaks to hundreds at Westbank branch.
By Patrick George
Growing up in Midland, former first lady Laura Bush said she thought the library was the most important building in town.
For that reason, Bush, a longtime supporter of literacy and the arts, said she was honored that the newest addition to the Westbank Community Library District would be named for her.
[NOTE: This article features a photo gallery and video (left-hand sidebar). Try to ignore many of the comments — just remember, Austin isn’t called the San Francisco of Texas for no reason!]

LARRY KUDLOW
[KUDLOW BELIEVES THAT PRESIDENT BUSH AND HENRY PAULSON SAVED OUR FINANCIAL SYSTEM . . . I couldn’t agree more and am thoroughly disgusted with those on the right who continue to both mischaracterize the President’s intervention and mindlessly mouth Ron Paul-esque economic platitudes . . . Yes, Ron Paul: An acknowledged TRUTHER who is so far to the right that he’s left — to the point of believing that Sarah Palin is a ‘country club’ Republican and the Bush-Israel relationship really was/is responsible for all of the world’s problems. . . . Pathetic!
FACT: Some entity (a Soros cabal?) attacked and came within FOUR HOURS of destroying the world economy last September . . . Only the quick and courageous intervention of a politically fearless President Bush (and his financial team) saved the world, and our country, from a complete and utterly devastating economic meltdown . . . Some day, I hope President Bush will be able to share with us the details of that fateful day in September. Now, of course, is not the time.
KUDLOW:
“. . . Henry Paulsons testimony on the Bank of America/Merrill deal has been well received on Wall Street. Both Republicans and Democrats on the investigating committee look like fools. Paulson basically told them, You bet I put a gun to Ken Lewiss head to complete the merger. We were in a crisis, and could have tipped over into the abyss.
. . . Paulson deserves a congressional medal of economic and financial honor, not this ridiculous witch-hunting-and-fishing expedition.
Take a look at the improving health of the financial system today and compare it to the dark days of last autumn. Not everything was perfect. It never is during wartime. But efforts by the Fed, the FDIC, and the Paulson Treasury helped save the system. Paulsons a hero, not a goat.
Oh, and did I forget to mention that former Pres. George W. Bush, the man who appointed Paulson, signed off on the Treasury rescue operations and publicly took the heat for them? Of course, no one ever gives him any credit.

I got a LETTER from George W. Bush today! (Suitable for framing!)
Thanks for all your wonderful links, Deb! I always look forward to them!
[KUDLOW BELIEVES THAT PRESIDENT BUSH AND HENRY PAULSON SAVED OUR FINANCIAL SYSTEM . . . I couldnt agree more and am thoroughly disgusted with those on the right who continue to both mischaracterize the Presidents intervention...
And I couldn't agree with you both more! I grew tired and angry at the continued lies about what really took place last September a long time ago.
I have posted the short and long versions of what you so succinctly state below, only to be ignored. Thank you for the post.
FACT: Some entity (a Soros cabal?) [why yes, I believe it was] attacked and came within FOUR HOURS of destroying the world economy last September . . . Only the quick and courageous intervention of a politically fearless President Bush (and his financial team) saved the world, and our country, from a complete and utterly devastating economic meltdown . . . Some day, I hope President Bush will be able to share with us the details of that fateful day in September. Now, of course, is not the time.
I should have listened to your warning, Dr. Deb, and ignored the comments below the article. They are totally ignorant, immature, jackasses (can I say that here??). They are teen-agers sitting anonymously behind a computer saying things they wouldn't have the nerve to say in public.
I'll get off my soap box now. :-(
Hope your book arrives today!!
Thanks much!
