Sacramento - --

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said today that the state's deficit has grown by $2 billion - to $26.3 billion due to the Legislature's failure to pass a comprehensive solution to solve the state's shortfall.

The Republican governor also declared a fiscal emergency, citing the Legislature's inability to pass a plan by last night's midnight deadline.

The fiscal emergency means that under Proposition 58, lawmakers will have 45 days to adopt a plan to close the deficit.

I have some folks working at a mining site in a very remote part of CA........... not far from the NV line off Hwy 395. The state toxics (DTSC) cops showed up and shut down the job for too much dust. I’m amazed they had the time and money to travel that far in this budget crisis.

Easy solution for CA:

Fire everyone, and I mean everyone. Reneg on all benefits, guaranteed pensions, guaranteed anything.

Then, go over to the all unemployment offices and see just how many "out of work for months" people would gladly do those jobs for half the pay, gladly kick in 35% towards their health benefits and not care for one-second about taxpayer guaranteed pensions, etc.

Crisis over. As for the babied, entitlement workers who for years with minimal education were raping average taxpayers, oh well, to bad. Your turn to be raped.

New York, are you watching and listening??

I'm just wondering.  Does Schwarzenegger have something akin to an Executive Order at his disposal?

If he did, he could just start making edicts, and force the Legislature to over-ride him.

That would certainly put the Democrats on notice.  Course his wife might would object...

Lets pick up the pace a bit here...

Isn’t that something. Don’t pay your bills and the deficit and debt grow.

Looks like they are down to their final option....that’s right the Bank of Barack. As soon as California gets theirs, another 11 states will be standing in line for theirs. There’s nothing that will stop this.

To all the brain-dead "progressive" ignoramuses out there. Pay attention.

Interest payments on borrowed money to pay for deficit spend never go away. And if regular payments are not made, it compounds.

Tell me again how I'm "morally" obligated to either give the State money I don't have, or allow the State to take it from me? Just so you can collect your welfare checks and feel morally superior?

Welcome to reality. You are enjoying the government that you deserve.

The fiscal emergency means that under Proposition 58, lawmakers will have 45 days to adopt a plan to close the deficit. If they fail to meet that deadline, they will be barred from taking up any other legislation that is not budget related.

Let's see... no additional stupid gun laws, no more idiot land grabs, gay subsidies, educrat bonanzas... The Slave Party will have its hands completely tied while they take a beating for their irresponsible spending!

I LIKE it!!!

At least there is SOMETHING to like about that idiot proposition.
