Pentagon Studies Ways to Relax Enforcement as First Step; Impact on Troops Would be Minimal
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the wake of yesterday's unexpected Pentagon announcement about gays in the military, experts say the "don't ask, don't tell" policy may be on the brink of irreversible change that would speed up its demise. After speaking with President Obama last week, Defense Secretary Robert Gates has asked military lawyers to explore how to modify enforcement of the policy in ways that are "more flexible until the law is changed." The President Monday reiterated his intention to end discrimination against gay troops, saying he is working with Congress and the military to do so.

Obama is stealing Romney’s position.
MITT ROMNEY: One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clintons dont ask, dont tell, dont pursue military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military. It’s not GAtes’ plan, but Zero’s plan.
Then again, is ANYBODY in the Zero’s administration really on America’s side?
You worthless piece of crap Gates, get the hell out and take your marxist boss with you.
Hey, they’re out to ruin everything else. Why should the military be immune?
Oooh get her! Whoops!
I've got your number ducky.
You couldn't afford me, dear. Two three.
I'd scratch your eyes out.
Don't come the brigadier bit with us, dear
We all know where you've been, you military fairy.
Whoops, don't look now girls the major's just minced in with that dolly colour sergeant, two, 'three, ooh-ho!
Gates is a gutless wonder.
Gates completely misses the point: discharge for homosexuality carries no penalty, it’s always an honorable discharge unless there’s some underlying conduct alleged as well. The bottom line is that everybody coming into the military knows full well that if they get outed, they’re out. How hard is this, really? And why should it matter how somebody’s homosexual proclivities are revealed? Answer: it shouldn’t.
Bring it on.
