“worthless”??? Thanks...

A friend and I went to an office...That office was hiring people to be trained to operate a GPS device that as we were instructed to do, and paid to do, was to go to an area where we were assigned and to “GPS tag” that particular lot/property...

We were instructed to estimate at that time what we saw at that address and enter in the data that we could determine to be accurate about that property...

At no time were we supposed to interact with anyone at that property, only collect the data we could determine at that time...

Thing like how many structures on the lot...Estimate how many bedrooms, norte how many vehicles were there at the address, any lofts of rooms above the garage, etc etc...

The GPS coordinate was to be able to take the location of the preliminary survey and enter it into a mapping or GIS type overlay...I believe I recall the reasoning was to assign the Census takers the most efficient area and route for those people as possible...Thats it...

The preliminary data was to be compared to what was actually collected next year...

I was hired because I am familiar with the ESRI-GIS mapping program...

Why I participated??? Dude...I am unemployed...I needed a little folding money...And the friend of mine that did this with me was a Republican State Representative in the state of Texas...

I too have my concerns about who will be doing the actual Census next year...Not much we can do about it other than if you have the time to do this, volunteer, and step up tot he plate to take a position away from a potential ACORN person that would be doing it...

Please do not scratch your head anymore on my account...I am happy to try and explain anything else to you if you like...

I know this whole thing stinks, but I we both figured it might be interesting to see what they are doing with this...No matter how bad it looks...

I am absolutely supportive of the efforts to not give anymore infromation than the number of people living at the location being targeted...

I would say that the concerns about the potential misuse of the data are totally founded...

If I am lucky enough to be picked again for the census worker visit, then I will do the same thing I did last time...

“There are two adults living at this address, I am not required by the Constitution of these United States to answer anything beyond that enumeration. Good Day sir/ma’am.”

The GPS tagging in my opinion is nothing more than a tool for people who cannot visualize efficient routes and information gathering processes...

I am certainly not buying into the conspiracy that the GPS data will be used to target a smart bomb, on that location or any other nefarious purposes...

The people upstream of us did not look that bright...

Just my opinion, but you were not there...

I’ll be happy to see if there is anything else I can clear up for you...Please let me know...

Thank you for the response. I totally understand the need to work for the coin of the realm.

My major doubt about the whole thing is that General Sherman used 1850 Census information to target the civilian population for support of his "scorched earth" march through Georgia.
