Reading, and Mocking, the Palin Profile So You Don't Have To
National Review Online ^ | June 30, 2009 | Jim Geraghty

To go through the 9,800 word profile/excoriation of Sarah Palin by Todd Purdum in Vanity Fair and Fisk it line by line would take an enormous amount of time and space, and probably more time than you’re willing to devote to reading it. So for now, the low-lights:

Whatever her political future, the emergence of Sarah Palin raises questions that will not soon go away. “What does it say about the nature of modern American politics that a public official who often seems proud of what she does not know is not only accepted but applauded?”

I’m still looking for any quote from Palin at any time where she expressed pride in what she does not know. The closest we come to in the article is an anecdote in which she tells a gubernatorial rival that she’s amazed at his command of “facts, figures, and policies” but then looks into the audience and wonders whether any of it really matters. We don’t know which “facts, figures, and policies” she’s referring to, but we have all seen detail-heavy speakers incapable of communicating a core message. Keep in mind that the current president was elected on a core message of “hope,” “change,” and “yes we can.”

Good takedown of the hit piece.

Good takedown of the hitpiece but bad advice at the end, that she shouldn’t run for prez in 2012.

Even if she’s not all her most enthusiastic fans think she is... who else have we got?

Waiting for the obi profile. I'll bet they are brutally honest about him.

Urp. Excuse me.

I really don’t understand the preoccupation the left has of Sarah... it isn’t like she stole the election or anything...

The more the lap-dog media hate on her, the more I like her.

They anticipte she’ll run and she has more loyalty and enthusiam among the GOP base than McCain ever held. No matter what anyone says, elections are won by first winning your base THEN bringing others onboard. Not vice versa. That’s what the establishment forgets. Dems will tear you apart. Liberals will tear you apart. The media will tear you apart. Doesn’t matter if your name is Demint or Chafee. You are toast if you don’t have a base that will counteract the Left and reach out to the undecideds on your behalf. It’s still early but so far the first doesn’t appear to be a problem. From there she just needs to flip the small middle. Easier to do if the Left continues as they are.

Then, too, her values repulse them at an instintual level to a point they don’t even consciously fully understand.

That’s the same old crap - I like her but she’s not ready. They can’t say anything bad about her because we’ll turn them off so they push the idea that’s ‘she’s not ready’ hoping that might work. ANYTHING so she doesn’t run in ‘12 or to place doubt in the voters’ mind.

Barack Obama is the most unprepared person to ever hold the office of POTUS. He is so unprepared he cannot speak coherently without TOTUS. Somehow I think Palin could handle the job and actually pick some cabinet members who were qualified and paid their taxes too.

I found this link on another thread. It’s interesting and depressing - the mindset of the left regarding Gov. Palin:
