As MSNBC and CNN battle for second place, second-quarter Nielsen numbers show the network's programs now rank one through 10 in total viewers on cable news.
Since Obama came into office, Fox has continued not only winning, but doing so at unprecedented levels. As the Hollywood Reporter noted last week, the network is having its "best year yet," with the competition in the ratings, shifting from not only the news networks but all of basic cable.
Indeed, Fox came in 3rd this quarter, behind only USA and TNT.
Across the board, already top-rated shows are up by percentages in the 30s and 40s.
But Glenn Beck, who takes aim at the administration repeatedly, is proving an even bigger draw since coming over from HLN:
His 5 p.m. slot is up 110 percent from last year. Such a trend shows commentators like Beck can thrive in the opposition.
From TVNewser:
8pm - O'Reilly Factor 3,188,000
9pm - Hannity 2,341,000
5pm - Glenn Beck 2,053,000
10pm - On the Record 1,950,000
6pm - Special Report 1,889,000
7pm - Fox Report 1,757,000
11pm - O'Reilly Factor 1,579,000
9am - America's Newsroom 1,399,000
4pm - Your World 1,389,000
3pm - Studio B 1,169,000
MSNBC's Keith Olbermann came close to cracking the top, having attracted 1,159,000 viewers during the second quarter.
I agree that Glenn Beck’s burning himself out. I was thinkin’ maybe he should cover 2 or 3 topics instead of 5 or 6. I can imagine that his staff is stressed out as well as they gotta research everything and keep up with him.
If he doesn't know that...someone should tell him.
Yes, that is a grueling schedule. And sometimes he appears on O’Reilly, as well.
I can easily see how his job is a major stresser. Our country is in so much trouble right now, I can’t even THINK about what’s happening without getting sick.
What 0bama and the dems are doing is so far reaching it’s difficult to comprehend. I do appreciate Glenn, Hannity and Rush, to name a few, trying to get us troups riled, but with the next elections so far off and the GOP acting like such idiots, it seems almost futile to make an impact now. Yet we must.
Yes, let’s pray for Glenn, and everyone who loves our country and is trying get it back on track.
Sanford’s such a jerk. If I was his wife, I’d be getting a d i v o r c e and get some of his book advance. What an idiot. And he won’t shut up. He’s got to be a RINO to behave worse than Bill Clinton. And he won’t shut up!
Glenn didn’t used to be such a workaholic but he is now. He can’t sit still. If he has hypertension, he’s got to get a handle on it.
Mark Levin’s my favorite cuz he’s sorta new in the area. We only get 1 hr.
Wow. I wonder is this is related to his extremely tough operation a couple of years ago.
I know! It’s one thing to cheat, but then to go on a big tour REMINDING everyone of what he did, plus EXPOUDING on his feelings for the other woman. Then he said he “hoped he could fall in love” with his wife again? How much more can he humiliate this woman?
And the mistress is no prize, either. I’m no Miss America myself, so I shouldn’t talk, but when I was flipping through channels yesterday, I stopped when I saw her, thinking it was Michael Jackson! Then I realized it was Sanford’s mistress!
The only thing good in this scenario is that it’s happening now. I honestly thought Sanford would be a good candidate for POTUS, but that’s out of the question now. If this would have happened in a few years from now, possibly when he was running or even nominated, the GOP would be out of luck forever!
Thanks for the ping!
What operation was that? (I'm fairly new to Glenn Beck... didn't watch him on CNN)
If GB can pull those numbers at 5PM, you just know the suits at Fox have to be thinking..what would he do in prime time?
Beck, I believe, is an “alcoholic in recovery”.
Yes, he’s going to have some “nervous issues”, but I think he’s handling it. I hope he has strong faith and is surrounded by same minded folks.
His book deal was cancelled. Sanford needs to be an awning commercial like John Edwards. All adulterer congressmen should go directly to awning sales. (seen the Edwards’ lookalike? He used to do a kids show on Saturday mornings in the Tampa Bay market.)
