COLUMBIA, S.C. -- COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford declared his Argentine mistress his soul mate Tuesday but said he is committed to reconciling with his wife in hopes of saving his family and what is left of his political career.
Sanford, who also admitted meeting his lover more times than he had previously claimed, told The Associated Press in emotional interviews that he "crossed lines" with a handful of other women during 20 years of marriage.
But he said he never went as far as he did with Maria Belen Chapur, the woman at the center of the scandal that has derailed his once-promising political future.

narcissist is right.. apparently he thinks his affair is something special and magical...
This guy is getting creepier and creepier by the day.
Why doesn’t this pathetic man just shut up.
Who were those Freepers telling us how good it would be to have this guy as President ~ weren't they Romney supporters?
And like I said, he’s making an awful big assumption that his “soulmate” feels the same way about him.
Those tanned, caucasian ken dolls: Sanford, Ensign are letting me down. I want something real, not a pretty boy like Jackie Broyles. I just do not see Jackie being obsessive about what shade of Tan he has achieved or if every hair is in place. Just say no to PLASTIC./Just Asking - seoul62........
“This was a whole lot more than a simple affair. . .”
Don’t most people who have sordid affairs think there was something “special” about their affair that rendered it “not sordid”?
I hope both women dump him.
He is truly pathetic.
it would be his just desserts to end up alone.
Tragedy devolves into farce. Sanford, serve out your term then run off to Argentina and write love poems on the beach. That fork you put in your back means that you’re done.
They will...and so will the next one....and the next one...and the one after that....
I guess the original train wreck wasn’t enough, he had to call in an air strike with napalm.
I don't think the people of South Carolina deserve to have a fraud as Chief Executive for the next few years. He has no credibility, and no effectiveness as a leader.
What do you mean it’s not the affair? The man isn’t even trustworthy to his own wife. Why should the state of South Carolina trust him when he betrayed the woman who he vowed to love as Christ loved the Church?
The sissy girl part at least tells you his emotions are genuine. Problem is that he ripped apart a bond that was not supposed to be broken.
No Shiite, please sit down and shut up or go write a book with the former governor of New Jersey, Jim McGreevey.
Yeah, you can title “soulmates for losers who have lost their ever loving(oops) mind(oops again)”.
