A top Republican senator has ordered an investigation into the Environmental Protection Agency's alleged suppression of a report that questioned the science behind global warming.
The 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carlin, pushed back on the prospect of regulating gases like carbon dioxide as a way to reduce global warming. Carlin's report argued that the information the EPA was using was out of date, and that even as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have increased, global temperatures have declined.
"He came out with the truth. They don't want the truth at the EPA," Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., a global warming skeptic, told FOX News, saying he's ordered an investigation. "We're going to expose it."
The controversy comes after the House of Representatives passed a landmark bill to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, one that Inhofe said will be "dead on arrival" in the Senate despite President Obama's energy adviser voicing confidence in the measure.
According to internal e-mails that have been made public by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, Carlin's boss told him in March that his material would not be incorporated into a broader EPA finding and ordered Carlin to stop working on the climate change issue. The draft EPA finding released in April lists six greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, that the EPA says threaten public health and welfare.
An EPA official told FOXNews.com on Monday that Carlin, who is an economist -- not a scientist -- included "no original research" in his report.

Putting politics in front of science....
Du? DU?
About time some congress critters to seek the truth.
Here is another story of quashed reporting of scientific discovery.
More proof that MMGW is a political tool used to bilk billions for re-distribution and government control.
I am glad that Sen. Inhofe is working on this.
The House Energy & Commerce Committee tried to have a presser on this Thursday, but nothing was getting reported on that day unless it involved Michael Jackson.
This coupled with the IG firings should ruffle some feathers.
I seem to remember some congressional Dems with noses out of joint when it came to the “politicization” of (INSERT HERE) during the Bush administration.
Can the EPA be trusted with your money? I think they have
been trying to devalue this country for years through
various regulations.
Oh forget about this. They’re already off to ban another gas.

Anyone hear from Michael Steele on this issue? .....crickets.....again?
It wasn’t “dismissed.’ It was SUPPRESSED! Purely for political reasons. This is a disgrace, as fraudulent “science” is being used to rob the public.
This (may) turn out to be a Christmas gift in July for the nation.
This should be required reading for all RINOS
Hey Imhofe, are you going to actually follow through and insist upon making this a major issue, or are you just another incredibly weak, phony, sellout weasel with an “R” next to your name?
Unfortunately, I think I know the answer.
The entire cap and trade fiasco was started by ENRON.
An EPA official told FOXNews.com on Monday that Carlin, who is an economist -- not a scientist --At least he's an economist and not just a failed presidential candidate (who isn't any more of a scientist than Carlin is).
Apparently Mr. Carlin's bosses have decided that statistics as understood and used by economists are not relevant to scientific materials.
The problem we had on a recurring basis at USPS Headquarters was about "addition" and "division". Some of the top level managers, and members of the Board of Governors, regularly disputed the results of both.
Over the years I've observed that the problem with addition and division extended far beyond USPS into the halls of Congress and sometimes the White House.
