Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack Feels The Heat On Energy

Controversy is growing over a new energy bill now on it's way to the U.S. Senate, after being approved by the House. It's a Democratic bill, with some Republican support, including that of 45th District Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack. The legislation was approved in the House on Friday. Only eight republicans supported it .

Valley resident Christopher Cerillo said he voted for Bono Mack twice, but can't believe she voted yes on an energy bill that is aimed to limit pollution.

"I'm just really disappointed as well as other Republicans that she didn't back up the values we stand for," said Cerillo.

Opponents of the bill are even expressing anger the Bono Mack's Facebook page.

One comment says: "Please run for the Senate so I may support your opponent regardless of their party."

In a written statement to KPSP Local 2 News Bono Mack says in part:

"It's beyond time for our nation to become energy independent and embrace future energy sources. While, not perfect, this bill takes bold steps forward that will help create new green jobs, build a stronger , more sustainable American energy supply and reduce our dependence on foreign oil."

Republicans who oppose the bill says the legislation will hurt business and drive jobs to more pollution friendly places like China. That's because the bill includes a cap-and-trade system which puts a price on carbon emissions . Still, local Democrats applaud Bono Mack.

"This bill is a step in the right direction. I was pleased to see other constituents urging her to vote . I was glad to see she did it, "said Elle Kurpiewski, Democrats Of The Desert.

The bill is a top priority for President Obama. The Senate could vote on the bill as early as this summer or fall.

I guess she's just another pretty face. She certainly is not a thinking woman.

It seems that Ms. (Bono)Mack is getting some criticism. I just wrote telling her I would financially be supporting whomever the "other guy" is.

Mack is certainly dumber than advertised. Considering there was no bill to read, how the hell does she know what’s in it?

“It’s beyond time for our nation to become energy independent and embrace future energy sources”

Did the b!+C& read the damn bill? It’s utter fantasy to believe it is going to “help us become more energy independent!” Because of impossibly high pollution standards, we can forget refineries and coal, so more imports are in the offing. These idiots are killing us. I will financially support WHOMEVER runs against these clowns in 2010, party be damned.

Longshot, but her constituents should keep pressuring her, so she’ll change her vote.

She must be quoting some DNC talking points since her message sounds almost identical to Mark Kirk’s excuse.

What Ms. Mack needs to understand, as well as others, is that we liked our country just the way it was before they decided what we need. I like oil, I like “OUR” oil and oil shale. I like our coal. I don’t like being told that I have to pay for all of their pipe dreams and corruption, welfare and all the other crap they hand out.

The vote was idiotic. She needs to be replaced with a Constitutionalist.

Hope they keep up the pressure. If the senate makes changes and passes something, then these worthless reps will have to vote on it again.

A step in the right direction my ass. If a step in the right direction puts you on a railway track, you are still dead when the train comes.

In addition to calling all eight yesterday I also contacted John Boehner’s office to ask if he was trying to convince them to change their minds. An aide insisted the motion to reconsider was a mere formality and the votes could not be changed. She stated the motion to reconsider referred to an alternative Republican bill. She asked me if I ever watch CSPAN in order to make a weak attempt to explain the motion to reconsider is a standard procedure that occurs for many bills.

“I was glad to see she did it, “said Elle Kurpiewski, Democrats Of The Desert.”

Glad you say you friggin’ IDIOT Kurpiewski? You will be the loudest voice in the Condo bitching about the “brownouts”, and lack of A/C when it’s 118 deg. Fah. out there in the desert.

Belay that, as you won’t be able to afford living out in the Desert with A/C when the Democrats get through with it all.

Precisely none of which is remotely true.

And, it's not an erroneous statement.

It is not a fib, or a mis-statement.

It is a premeditated, calculated, vulgar and insulting LIE!
