The new rule , scheduled to take effect in 2012, will cut the amount of electricity used by affected lamps by 15 to 25 percent... Which will, no doubt, cut the amount of LIGHT provided by these lamps by 25 to 40 percent.

That’s what I like about this Bambiministration. They are never ever EVER given to hyperbole. Not counting Joe Biden, of course.

Didn’t they already mandate something similar in the UK and the newer “efficient” light bulbs were terrible? Not to mention because of their low level strobing they were causing seizures in some people?

GE turns and sends a portion of the “Squiggly Bulb” profits to Acorn.
All are pricks! I have banned all GE products...except jet engines of course.

I heard Rush say today that there is a provision in the Cap&Tax bill which states that ANYONE who sells a home will be subject to a review by the govt. in order to insure that the home meets whatever environmental “standards” the govt. sets. If the home fails to meet the standards, then the govt. will require the home seller to take corrective action in order for the sale to proceed. Is this possible in a country once known as the Land of the Free? Are the sheeple going to wake up?

That one bright spot in NK is where ALL libs envision themselves living.
Everyone else is going to be freezing in the dark.
Research the “fuedal” system in order to understand their ultimate goal.

PREDICTION: After we all have been forced over to the squirrely mercury bulbs, and America starts to replace them after they burn out - the enviro-whackos will go nuts as to all the mercury accumulating (and probably leaking) all over America, and we will need even more regulations and laws to protect us from ourselves.

When it comes, as the Obambi thugocracy and their enablers and supporters will discover, this particular payback is going to be a real bitch.
And richly deserved.

Ok let me get this straight... he’s telling US what kind of light bulbs we can use while HE flies in an entire Hawaiian luau FROM HAWAII!!??? Gee — that’s energy efficient isn’t is? Does he think we’re that STUPID?

"Now I know light bulbs may not seem sexy"This, is what the mentality of America is to the Lib's; "if it isn't sexy, it's not appealing", which shows their pre-occupation with feelings, feel-good, and irresponsibility....it's hard to hide what REALLY drives these Utopia-seeking slugs......
The moral depravity and decay in this country (driven by Hollywood and the NEA) has taught our kids to look for sex in EVERYTHING....to determine its merit.

This reminds me how Hitler thought the german national anthem was played to fast and was not respectful so he demanded it would be played slower.
Zero is so involved in our personal life, even to the extent of light bulbs.............

I purchased and installed some LED lamps around my house. The lamps at the front door and on either side of the garage are controlled by motion detectors. The down side for that installation is a small "leak through" current that keeps a constant, dim output from the LED lamp. Indoors, I replaced a pair of 40 watt floods on a dimmer with LEDs that consume 3.5 watts. The light is more white/blue that pink as before. They don't draw enough current to control with an incandescent dimmer. The area covered is not nearly as smooth and diffuse as before. The light in both cases is harsh compared to the incandescents. I'm expecting a lamp life of nearly forever.
BTW, these were purchased at Costco in Pocatello. They probably have similar stock in other areas.
