WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. official says a North Korean ship has turned around and is headed back the way it came, after being tracked for days by American vessels on suspicion it was carrying illicit weapons.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence, says it is unclear whether the Kang Nam is going back to its home port in North Korea or diverting elsewhere.

Unloaded? Where? In the middle of the Pacific Ocean? It never got to port or hooked up with any other ship.

They were obviously spooked by Obama’s stern words...expect Gibbs on TV claiming this as a win for Barry...

When was it in the middle of the Pacific? Last I heard it was along the coast of China... and then we heard nothing more for a few days until now.

A “US official says...” Well then it must obviously be true. He just failed to mention the fact that the ship unloaded tons of God knows what and is headed back for another shipment. The “official” however is making it appear that the N Koreans turned the ship around in fear of Hussein and a possible nasty letter.

Or it was used to draw attention away from the real "drop". Or the North Koreans are crazy losers who act erratically.

Oh isn’t that great, we avoided an international incident by doing nothing... except of course NK still has nukes, they’re still selling anything they can to anybody who wants to pay and they are still planning a launch toward us. But hooray, we did nothing. What a great diplomat that Obama is. ;-)

It could be anything: They sent her out as bait to spark an incident, now heading home. Or she needs to refuel and can’t risk stopping at a port where she might be boarded. Or the old scow is in trouble and limping home. Who knows?

Then again, she may have met up with another scow and transferred some cargo. We’d know about it if that’s the case. AP might not know, of course.

While the bodypart-in-chief had military assets following the Nork vessel, all the really bad stuff got shipped out via FedEx and UPS. The decoy can come home, now.

Dropped load in shallow waters to be reclaimed by divers/submarines?

It could have docked and unloaded... how would we know if Obama chooses not to release that information?
