SCOTUS just broke for the summer yesterday. Predictably Franken wins the next day. We better prepare ourselves because now that SCOTUS is off duty the blitzkrieg against freedom and liberty will ramp up full force.

It was very very very hard to want to root for that snake coleman. At least with Franken, he will be a source of embarrassment for the dems. I think this may be a blessing in disguise for the GOP. Colemen was worthless anyway.

5-0? What an utter disgrace. We are officially a banana republic.
How much more evidence do we need to prove that this Republic is lost forever?
It's great there's another liberal nut job to expedite Zero/Pelosi/Reid's plan to utterly destroy this country from within....just in time for Crap and Tax....

I think you may be right. The turn out for the July 4th and Sept. 12th tea parties may give an indication of how close we are.

Reagan said, I'd rather go to battle with five lions than 50 lambs. Or something to that effect.
Look, this is real simple: How did the Dems get 'back' from being down 55-45 (or whatever it was) and on the brink of us getting 60 Senate votes? They did it by getting their core to hammer, hammer, hammer, 24-7, with NO defectors. How many times in military history have large, ponderous armies of mercenaries and half-hearted been routed by much smaller forces of cohesive, committed troops?

I don't know what the number is, or where we end up. But I'll say this again: we have to finally get to where we know those who are with us are with us. Period. The Dems re-took power when they were off 15 in the senate from where they are now, and they did so by keeping their ideologically-committed base.
In military history, we have countless examples of large, unwieldy armies of lukewarm troops defeated by much smaller, committed forces.
And the "others" can come along for the ride, but they must be held accountable by leadership for voting with the party. When they don't---as DeWine did on ANWAR a few years ago---they need to be punished big time by being stripped of their prestigious committee posts. Now, oddly, in DeWine's case, if that had happened, it's entirely probable he wouldn't have voted against ANWAR and just as likely would have kept his senate seat.

Reuters: Minnesota court affirms Franken won Senate seat; ruling will likely give Democrats 60-vote supermajority in Senate
True nominally, but not so much in practical terms just now given Byrd's and Kennedy's extreme ill health.

We will make modest gains in the House, but will not make gains in the Senate. Too many Republicans retiring in vulnerable states. We will have to wait until 2012 to take back Congress (and the Presidency).

Maybe Coleman will be the other RINO to think about running for guv(the other RINO being former Congresscritter Jim Ramstad) I am thankful Bachman is my C-critter, but not enough to want to stay here in MN. Ramstad is significantly left of Coleman, especially on social issues. For that matter, Collin Peterson is significantly right of Ramstad on social issues.
Someone who's piqued my interest as a candidate: Laura Brod, small business owner and state rep from New Prague.
Brod's votes in the last two sessions (links below) are pretty reliably conservative. 2008 votes
2007 votes
