Some illegal immigrant high school graduates will be able to attend Wisconsin state universities by paying in-state tuition, under a provision in the two-year budget Gov. Jim Doyle signed into law Monday.
Wisconsin now becomes the 11th state to enact such a law.
To qualify, students would have to reside in the state for three years, graduate from a Wisconsin high school or earn an equivalency degree here.
The students would have to apply through the normal channels.
It's estimated from 400 to 650 illegal immigrants annually graduate from state high schools, but they must pay out-of-state tuition if they enroll in the state university system or technical colleges.
In-state tuition at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is $7,576 a year in the 2008-'09 school year, compared with out-of-state tuition, which is $17,306.
State Rep. Pedro Colón (D-Milwaukee) first introduced the in-state college tuition measure in 1999, when he was new to the Assembly.

As these guys are identified they should be reported to ICE and deported.
Why don’t we just turn the keys over to the illegals? They are getting everything anyway?
Does it cover immigrants to Wisconsin from other states or just immigrants from outside the USA? Otherwise, it just seems that some people in Wisconsin favor Mexicans over Minnesotans.
....something very bad started to happen at the University of Wisconsin in the late 1960s...since then it’s only metasticized and gotten worse...it’s puzzling, because the state is full of wonderful common sense folks.
The officials who approve illegal aliens receiving the same benefits as citizens should be prosecuted for misuse of public funds.
What ELSE is new? LOL. Sad but true.
Tar. Feathers. Pitchforks. Torches.
Get on it Sconnies...
“The officials who approve illegal aliens receiving the same benefits as citizens should be prosecuted for misuse of public funds.”
I agree! Giving funds to ay illegal alien ahead of a natural born citizen is criminal!
Every time an illegal gets accepted to a university, that’s one less slot for an American citizen. That’s also one less scholarship for an American student. That’s one less job for an American citizen. That’s one American dream down the drain. It’s also one more student loan the US taxpayer will get to pay.

UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS ARE ALSO ENCOURAGED TO APPLY"
We in Wisconsin are idiots and we elect idiots and scoundrels. We love to be taxed and we tolerate waste in government as we just shrug and put more brats on the grill and more beer in the cooler.
Actually, there are some wise voters upstate and in rural areas, but their votes are canceled by the great collection of fools in Dane county (Madison) and Milwaukee county at election time.

Ah, apparently not. That may have been the case at one time. But I’ve come to the conclusion that majority of Americans are just plain stupid or we wouldn’t be seeing such an absolutely irreversible mess.

As a legal immigrant, I have been adamant against illegal aliens (especially the one in the W.H.,) but after seeing this demographic, I am now torn!!!
Are we better off with Hispanic influx or from the muzzies’ marching on to world domination including here in the U.S.???
