LUMBERLAND – A 64-year-old man, said to be impatient after Friday’s storm because the power had not been restored to his home, took a demolition saw and tried to cut through downed wires and was electrocuted.

A witness told the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Mieczyskaw Mil of 1160 Route 97 in Pond Eddy had been drinking and attempted to cut through the cable which turned out to be a 4,800 volt feeder line that was hanging off a pole.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, the Lumberland Fire Department requested the police to the scene for a disorderly person. A short time later, the fire department reported a person had been electrocuted there.

Deputies and Town of Lumberland constables and found Mil tangled in arcing wires. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Sullivan County Coroner Alan Kesten. An autopsy is expected to be performed.

Sheriff’s detectives are continuing the investigation.

Chain saw thru 4800 volt cable? Yeah, that’d pretty much do it. HNSS = Human Neon Sign Syndrome.

The combination of alcohol and power tools seldom leads to good outcomes.

A. Drunk -- phase 1 danger
B. Drunk and Stupid -- phase 2 disorderly person
C. Drunk, Stupid and Belligerent -- phase 3 fatal
However 64 id old but not elderly. I know, I am elderly and therefor I seldom drink and never have a delusion that I am an electrician.

If he was tangled up in arcing 4800-volt lines, my question is, how did they dientangle him?

My goodness I’m glad I wasn’t there to find out. Ick.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, the Lumberland Fire Department requested the police to the scene for a disorderly person.

Disorderly at the molecular level, I surmise.

Happy Birthday!

I think 64 is little old for the Darwin award though. If he was gonna procreate, he’s already done it.

“An autopsy is expected to be performed.”

####

Yeah, you never know.

One of those sinister SUV’s might actually have been what killed him.
