TORONTO - Considering that many Canadians practically bleed Tim Hortons coffee on any given workday, it may come as a surprise to some that the much-beloved chain is once again returning its home base to Canada.
Didn't know Tims has actually been registered in the United States for years? That's easy to forgive, considering just how deeply ingrained the brand has become in the Canadian consciousness.
But it is true that the house built on the doughnut and double-double was for nearly 15 years - a result of its purchase by U.S. burger chain Wendy's - registered far away in Delaware.
Parent company Tim Hortons Inc. (TSX:THI) announced Monday it has filed documents in the United States that would shift its corporate ownership back north of the border. Its current Canadian headquarters is in Oakville, Ont., west of Toronto.
The company says the move - which it had said it was considering earlier this year - will save on taxes and make international expansion easier.

Double-double ping.
Not only that, it will make it harder for the Bamster and his communist cronies to take them over.
I don't know if I should be surprised, or not.
That Canadian company is a traitor to America. I’ll bet they’re globalists.
Are they still affiliated with Wendy’s?
As I recall some time after Dave Thomas died his daughters sold Wendy’s to the same parent company as Arby’s; I didn’t hear that Tim Horton’s was part of the deal. I would assume they might have been sold separately.

It’s all Obama’s fault
They are protecting their investors cash/property from government thieves.
They are doing the right thing.
They're all over town and extend down into the rural areas south of Buffalo, too. And, the minute another one opens, the cars line up all around the parking lot and out into the street to buy their coffee and maybe get a decent-but-not-really-that-great donut. I don't get it.
But I do want a franchise.

The company was originally founded in Hamilton Ontario in 1964 and did not become a US corporation until it became part of Wendy's in 1995. Many of Tim Hortons restaurants are in combined locations with Wendy's restaurants.
Tim Horton was born in Cochrane Ontario and was a major league hockey player.
BTW Tim Hortons set up at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan at the request of deployed Canadian Forces personnel.
I was surprised Micro$oft didn't when they were being investigated.
Tim Horton’s was spun off as a separate company at that time- IIRC the IPO was two or three years ago.
Had the adults been in charge here in Canada at the time they probably would have. At that time, the Liberals were in power here and nobody expected Stephen Harper to oust them.
I know. I just wanted to try one of the room temperature IQ, paleo, protectionist arguments to see how it felt.
And inspired a donut shop in a SNL movie.
LOL
