DUers Invent Highly Laughable Excuses to Explain Fox News Ratings Success
NewsBusters ^ | June 29, 2009 | P.J. Gladnick

Few things drive the denizens of the Democratic Underground into a frenzy like the mere mention of Fox News. Therefore, as you can expect, a story in the Hollywood Reporter, Fox News set for best year yet, sent the members of what they call the "reality-based community" into some very unreal yet highly entertaining reactions to that unwelcome news. But before we allow the DUers to take the comedy stage, let us take a look at the Hollywood Reporter story by James Hibberd that sent them into a divorced-from-reality frenzy:

Fox News is on track to have its most-watched year ever, showing significant ratings growth despite having just come off a highflying election year.

With the second quarter coming to a close, Fox News averaged about the same number of viewers as the top three other cable news networks combined. And while rivals including CNN (-22%) and MSNBC (-18%) took hits following last quarter's inauguration-fueled boost, Fox News (-3%) remained nearly steady.

here’s the Freerepublic mention from the iDUots...

“And I don’t need to watch them in order to know what they’re saying. I only need to log on to DU. Same with Free Republic. I’ve never once been over to their site, yet I know all about them. Half their watchers are rooting against them and aren’t fans. Without the opposition tuning in for their laugh of the day FOX would sink like rock. “

There is a StarBucks that I stop by in my local mall-place. The TV’s were always on CNN until a few weeks ago. Have no idea what happened, but they are now on the Cartoon channel.

... and the DUfus doesn’t realize that this comparison means DU would sink like a rock without half of their “watchers” tooning in for a laugh.

And it’s a lot smaller rock.

How long did it take you to find a post this clean from that site?? The stuff I have seen and heard about from that site needed to be sent to the laundry to be cleaned before reading!

RUSH! If you’re listening. Do you want to make even more money and change the course of history in America? Create a Conservative Network! It will exceed even Fox, and can focus on the truth. Equal Time, baby!

That sums up the left. They can’t abide reading or hearing anything that conflicts with their viewpoint, while most people on the right read and examine the arguments of those on the left as a matter of course.

Agreed.
A conservative network is desperately needed and labeled as such. No apologies.Heavy on fiscal conservatism, logical energy choices, pro-family, anti global warming mania, support of the military and defense of this nation abroad. Rush is not heavy with the religious stuff, neither should a conservative network.

Of course it did. And it will continue to do so as long as it remains the ONLY alternative to the leftist bile spewed daily by the MSM.

Liberal condescension and ignorance mixed with lots of stupidity :

Yavin4 : Fox News Gets Higher Ratings Because They Deliver A Consevative Fantasy World Version of the News Liberals don't live in a bubble fantasy world, and as such, they don't need Glen Beck or Sean or Billo to give them this conservo-facist-sexist-racist view of the world. This is also why AM radio does not work well for progressives. Also, this is explains why progressives love blog sites, message boards, etc. We tend to like a community of highly intelligent people, well informed people wherein we can share information, ideas, and learn from the world as well as each other.

One insuperable problem: There are not enough skilled programmers, producers, directors, writers, reporters, actors, et al with a conservative mindset to staff "a conservative network".

And there aren't enough movies and TV re-runs that pre-date the sixties available to fill the gap.

Regrettably, most conservatives just aren't attracted to the "arts".
