A number of your signs belay your statement that this is non-partisan. I would like to try to talk some of my liberal friends into joining me. They will laugh in my face if I tell them this is non-partisan and they then look at those signs.
Tax FAP ^&reedom Tea Party Report. July 4 2009. About 4 showed up with signs. I walked up and down the parade route prior to parade. My sign:
Side 1:
CARBON IS NOT A DANGER TO THE PLANET
CONGESS[sic] IS A DANGER TO US. DRILL NOW.
Side 2:
CAP & TRADE IS LARGEST
TAX INCREASE IN HISTORY
1,200 + 300 mostly blank pages
THEY DID NOT READ
Got maybe 20% right on thumbs up signs. Got maybe -10% hostile looks. One lady emphatically told me to get off her property. I was on the sidewalk & said “I think sidewalk is ok” & walked away. Did not challenge anyone or engage in hostilities. Took some heat from Lib about mispelling “Congress.”
Walked along parade route saying:
“Carbon dioxide does not cause global warming.”
If someone showed interest:
“Many good websites refuting the theory.” [Named some if they looked interested.] A couple of people seemed unaware of any scientific papers challenging the theory & said they would look into it.
Turned sign around as I talked & showed Tax Increase side & told about House passing bill last week. Many people were unaware of that. Told them $1,200/year increase per family for energy. Told them to call Senators. Several said they were going to do that.
Not bad to be there. In the belly of the Lib beast — really.
One guy asked me about what neighbors had to say. He was against cap & trade but apparently there had been discussions. Funny.
I was sitting in my power chair for the duration of the two hour parade, directly across the street from the bleacher stand located at Sequoia and Hanchett. Standing sitting patriots waved their signs at the politicians riding by in vintage automobiles, while I was yelling ‘stop spending our money’ - particularly at Democommie Congressperson Zoe Lofgrin!!! Sorry we didn’t get to say hello!!!
