Barack Obama and the Honduran "Coup"
Entitlement Syndrome ^ | 06/29/2009 | Admin

Posted on 06/29/2009 4:15:34 PM PDT by BigKahuna

In reviewing the events which took place this weekend in Honduras, we feel the need to add somewhat of a clarification to the post previous to this one, in which we mentioned that U.S. President Barack Obama seemed willing only to offer rhetoric in the defense of an ousted national leader (Honduran President Mel Zelaya). In making that observation, we appear to have made an error in judgment which we feel compelled to correct.

It seems — as our friends at Power Line (the estimable Scott Johnson) have observed — that the military coup that took place occurred at the order of the country’s Supreme Court, which found that Marxist-leaning President Mel Zelaya was engaged in an attempt to illegally extend his tenure in office and ordered a halt to such shenanigans. Read the complete Power Line post here.

... Sadly, it’s becoming increasingly clear that democratic stirrings among the populace of any nation in danger of either falling into despotism or currently caught in a stranglehold by such despots are not enough to stir President Obama to any sort of sympathy, a failing which has already been demonstrated recently in Iran.

Making this sadder still is that most news reports on the Honduras action show a large majority of support for the expulsion of Zelaya and the swearing-in of a member of the country’s legislature (and next in the line of succession in accordance with the Honduran constitution) who is advocating — with military support — for scheduled elections in November of this year. Once again, it appears Mr. Obama has come down on the wrong side of history, and so early in his presidency.

Dammit!

It’s not a coup!

Why won’t they get their facts straight?

He was impeached and removed in accordance with the constitution.

The “coup” is whats coming, when they try to impose him unconstitutionally, by force.

I remember the days when Democrats would actually support the overthrow of a despotic leader and stand for human rights. Today - it’s a different story.

It is my opinion that FUBO is setting us up for a take over ... either from within or from outside with his help. I suspect it is a plan that he believes will put him in as dictator for life of the former USA ... if I am right and what I said is PROVEN true, he is a traitor of the worse kind ... and all that follows

Somehow, I don’t think he’ll be taking any calls from Major Garrett for the next few weeks.

If we are waiting to see how Iran “plays out” why are we interfering in a sovereign nations matters?

As Charles Krauthammer pointed out tonight on the Special Report panel the only “coup” was what the guy they kicked out was trying for.

We need to start doing something about the tyrants that occupy our presidency and Congress before we start criticizing other countries’ political processes.

Why won’t they get their facts straight?

Because it fits their notion an eeevill military. Obama doesn't like them because they are protecting and defending their constitution from a domestic enemy. Perhaps it puts a twings of fear in him.

The Honduran Supreme Court acted to prevent a coup, and succeeded in doing so. Their former Vice President is now President, and the former President, who flouted the constitution and brought Venezuelans into Honduras to run his sham referendum, is in exile. That the Hondurans were perhaps too humane in their treatment of this despot is the only problem, here.
