The combination of sadness and rage that I feel over this is monumental, yet it's a feeling that I know we all will be experiencing more and more over the coming years.

I agree with you big time. When we had kids, we moved out of Houston to an undisclosed rural area. I have a lot of respect for the HPD officers that have to deal with the legions of illegals in the city while our federal govt sits on their hands. There is no border. The sanctuary cities are safe havens for the violent drug dealers. Kind of like gun free zones are nothing but target rich environments. And at the same time, our feds and the media is surprised at the serious arming up by the US citizens. Captain Obvious event here.

Two people are primarily responsible for the deaths of several police officers. The mayor of Houston, Bill White, who has aspirations for higher office. The police chief, Harold Hurtt, who is trying to get a better job somewhere else. These two have conspired to let illegals run free in Houston regardless of their criminal activity. While whining that Houston is not a sanctuary city they have made it so by the lack of law enforcement and special treatment of illegals.

To these people lives, including those of police officers, should not stand in the way of political ambitions. The sooner we see the end of these two the better for the community.

Sanctuary cities aren’t legal. Federal law takes precedence over local law. Maybe the Houston police should bring a lawsuit.
