Northeastern 2010 GOP picture taking shape

Republicans looking for resurgence in the Northeast will probably need some stumbles by President Obama and the Democratic majority, but they are getting the pieces they need to take advantage.

The GOP is expected to fill several key holes in its Northeastern recruiting puzzle in the coming days and weeks, with candidates set to emerge against Reps. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) and Jim Himes (D-Conn.) in the near future.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has already sent out a fundraising e-mail asking donors to contribute to Corning, N.Y., Mayor Tom Reed’s campaign against Massa. Reed has yet to officially enter the race, but he will make an announcement July 1 and is expected to run.

I suspect 80% or more of the “recruits” ARE RINOs. That’s not “looking up” to me.

Frankly, if the NE GOP is going to give us more Specters, Shays, and Collins’s...I’d rather have Democrats.

Enemies of freedom, liberty and capitalism are better fought when they are outside.

Massa is the demhole from my district, he’s a 1st termer that rode Obama’s coattails into office. He replaced Kuhl who, while nothing too write home about, was a farily reliable R-vote. Massa voted for the porkulus but just voted no on cap-and-tax. A solid real conservative-republican would bounce him out in ‘10.

Jim Himes is a Goldman Sachs stooge. I’d vote for another Democrat in order to remove him.

I’m from the Southern Tier and the Massa-kist is my rep. I don’t know much about Reed, but I’ fed up with RINOS. This area is ready for a staunch conservative, not a RINO like Houghton.
The Reps. who voted for the cap and trade made it possible for guys like Massa to safely vote no.

I dislike Specter, Shays, and Collins as much as you do. But I dislike Pelosi and Reid more.

So I'd rather have any Republican over a RAT.

Specter and Collins voted with Reid and Pelosi on the "print money pork" bill. So whats the difference? :)

I know what you're saying, but having been in Florida where our RINO governor hugged Obama and introduced him at a pro-stimulus rally, I am fast coming to the realization our party needs to be one of all races, colors, creeds, and religions--but one that believes in CONSERVATIVE GOVERNING VALUES.

I don't think most NE Republicans believe that. The last REALLY strong one was probably Bob Smith of New Hampshire.
