From a Native Texan who had ancestors that were here during the Republic (most of my ancestors came during Reconstruction):
Texas is not where you were born, but is a State of mind and heart. The essence of it is "leave me alone to live my life in peace, if that is not satisfactory we will deal with it".
If you feel comfortable with that you could probably be a Texan.
Sorry about that! I am glad “you got here as soon as you could” :) Guess we'll just have to come up with some sort of litmus test to sort out the TINO’s (Texans In Name Only). Thought that up all by my self :)!
