“In all seriousness, and I hesitate to use this phrase, there should be a law that requires bills to have 15-30 days for public / representative / senator review before they are allowed to come to vote.”

Why don’t we each start petitioning our representatives to do exactly that? I think it should first be well publicised, perhaps at the July 4th Tea Parties. It wouldn’t do any good unless they suddenly got thousands of letters/ emails/ faxes in a short period of time.

I could see some rep sponsoring the bill just to look good to his constituents, especially one of the blue dog dems.

Bingo. There doesn't seem to be a downside for demanding this law IMO. If anything is common sense it is that you read the flippin' bill before you debate it, much less sign it!
