Witnesses in Iran say police have clashed with up to 3,000 protesters near a mosque in north Tehran.
They say security forces fired tear gas to disperse the crowd, and some demonstrators fought back, chanting: "Where is my vote?"
Witnesses at the scene tell The Associated Press that some protesters claimed they suffered broken arms or legs in Sunday's clashes around the Ghoba Mosque.
They say some young demonstrators screamed at police and then attacked them after the officers allegedly beat an elderly woman. The reports could not immediately be independently verified because of tight restrictions imposed on journalists in Iran.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Iranian authorities have barred journalists for international news organizations from reporting on the streets and ordered them to stay in their offices. This report is based on the accounts of witnesses reached in Iran and official statements carried on Iranian media.

Great ‘toon!
Say it all.
Great pic post!
What do you make of this blurb that I machine translated from Twitter this morning?
If what I read from a machine translation from a twitter blurb this morning is correct the demonstrations are huge.
From Twitter:
Many of the people Shemiran moving towards the mosque are. Around 700 thousand population, a large mosque in cassock and surrounding are
(machine translations are always suspect, but the 700 was sent in numerals and the rest was spelled out with the Farsi word for thousand.)
If correct that is a huge demonstration
It appears that even in Iran that comedians are noted by the population. The following blurb was on twitter a few minutes ago, relating that the “police” (cassocks) arrested a comedian and his wife. Near a Mosque and a large demonstration. I guess the Mullah do not see the humor, should have known.
—
“Reza Attaran comedy writer artist today cassock against the mosque was arrested in Tehran.
According to eyewitness reports that he had tons of green clothes and his wife accompanied the rally was arrested by plainclothes is.”
Here is another indication that things may get really out of hand.

From Twitter, machine translated-
“Clashes in the streets and alley nearby mosque cassock and the military has been severely beaten severely with people they are trying to disperse “
“Many of the people Shemiran moving towards the mosque are. Around 700 thousand population, a large mosque in cassock and surrounding are”
That is indeed a huge demonstration. And the media wants to dwindle it down to just 3,000? Please....
I also heard something about how Khomenei was saying that any protester who is captured will be hanged.
These machine translations are a rough thing. After thinking about it, the 700,000 is probably the population of the city.
But blurbs indicated that the “police”? were beaten back. This does not sound like the opposition resolve is deteriorating.
This is not simply going to “blow” over.
Do you think Obozo is watching this with reflection on what is to come here? When the U.S. citizens decide enough-is-enough what are he and his minions facing? He has not missed this, hence his silence.
Are there no journalists with the stones to disobey this order?
I am no expert on Twitter, but it appears to me that some of the sites with heavy Farsi content are no longer around. This morning I was copying the text and translating it through ECTACO translator. It looked like it was located in the West, not the Mid-East. Looks like the overall Farsi content is down. That is probably not a good sign.
Heard some blurbs about the government tracking them and I assume some of them have been arrested.
There were earlier content about them marking homes that they would later make arrests at. Some were removing the markings.
Not much reliable news coming out now.
And we have faster rocks, made of lead.
Yes indeed. And we will keep them, unless we need them.
