SANTA CRUZ, California — A man who works three jobs to support his family — including one as a limousine driver — has won a $39 million jackpot in California's SuperLotto Plus.

Clyde Persley, who is married with a 4-year-old daughter, turned in his winning ticket on Tuesday night and should get his first check for about $16 million in four to six weeks, said a California lottery spokeswoman.

The 49-year-old Santa Cruz man operates candy-making machines for Santa Cruz Nutritionals, drives a limousine and picks up extra hours at a restaurant.

Quick California, pass a law taxing him for the whole amount plus a service fee to help pay off the state debt!

Interesting question. This is one that should be followed. If they don’t pay him, the lottery is dead.

I predict that this man will switch from liberal to conservative within 24 hours after receiving his first tax bill.

Good for him. Of course the bad news is Kalifornia politicians have 4 weeks to figure out how to steal all of the money.

Well, good for him! Hopefully, the need to work 3 jobs to support his family has been a big lesson in the need to handle money wisely and in this case a big winner will turn out better than others have.

Our budget problems are with the General Fund, the lottery is a separate fund they tried to get in the last Prop voting that we stopped.

Hopefully, he will have the intelligence to manage his money and have the confidence to say “Hell no!’ to any “friends” or family members who approach him asking for a chunk of money for “investments.”
