'Cap and trade' your freedom: Joseph Farah stresses meaninglessness in light of China, India

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that 5 percent of Americans could give an accurate definition of what "cap and trade" means.

We hear the phrase a lot. It has what I call a high MEGO factor. MEGO is a news industry acronym for "my eyes glaze over."

Nevertheless, the plan by Barack Obama and the Democratic Congress to institute a "cap and trade" system on the production of carbon dioxide and other so-called "greenhouse gases" (the principal one being water vapor, by the way) is nothing more than a plot to destroy the American economy once and for all.

You think I'm kidding?

Here are a few facts to consider: The plan is based on largely pseudo-science suggesting that these natural gases (not pollutants) are causing massive, catastrophic climate change.

It is a fake, contrived, government-controlled industry to force private entities to purchase contrived “carbon credits” to (to use the words of my Communist Rep.) “have government-issued permits, called allowances, to legally pollute.”

I’m just hoping that we can bring down the 0.117% effect that manmade CO2 has as a greenhouse gas down! Just think, if we cut back 50% of our output it will be down to 0.06%. Of course cutting back on industry, travel, shipping, etc. by 50% might have its drawbacks I suppose.

It is designed by Democrats to massively and surreptitiously raise taxes on every man, woman, and child in America, in a vain attempt to raise revenue to fund their Utopian fascistic dream programs. Vain, because revenues will fall as the economy, predictably, slows.

Sometimes it seems many, if not most, Americans do not have the attention span to follow any issue.

I'm sorry to say I think the debate on issues that will deeply affect us for generations is on this level.

Looking at yesterday's vote with the alien in charge in the Whitehouse’s support, I would say we have gone to the point of no return. This place is lost. One of the more interesting provisions within this monstrosity is that Zero and his minions knew that the increased burdens placed upon energy intensive industries would cause some to move their operations out of country to friendlier climes. So in their infinite wisdom they decided to insert language which basically requires Zero to place tariffs on all goods coming from these businesses that relocate to countries such as China and India who refuse to go along with this nonsense.

Any one, and I mean any one who is a student of history knows exactly what the Smoot-Hawley Act did to prolong the Great Depression. I refuse to believe that any country is going to take this laying down and will themselves institute tariffs on American goods and services themselves. So not only are we going to have vastly increased costs from forced rationing, we'll also have a harder time selling our products overseas along with the added pleasure of paying more for imported goods. Brilliant!
